Positional sacs are already rare. A positional queen sac is legendary.

Insanity, most queen sacs are tactical. I’ve done positional queen sac very few times but never this early in the game
@JahjagaКүн бұрын
@ right, I’ve only ever really queen sacced for mate or marginal material gain (like two rooks or, in certain positions, three minor pieces). Nezhmetdinov was a savage.
@billpoole8541Күн бұрын
And to do it to another GM is disgusting. He must have practiced that game a time or 2 before to know that many moves ahead.
@diogenes255018 сағат бұрын
@billpoole8541 Nezhmetdinov wasn’t a GM himself, only an IM. Which possibly makes it more impressive.
@billpoole854118 сағат бұрын
@@diogenes2550 ah, yes, I didn't even notice that he has an IM next to his name playing a GM.

Enjoyed seeing this game again. It never gets old. And of course your commentary made it that much more entertaining 👍🏻

At 6:48 the guts it takes to go for this plan with no queen is crazy

Almost every player in this position would try to go for a quick knockout and blunder their entire advantage.

thank you for this incredible game! Nez was already known as a wild attacking genius by the time this game was played. Mr Chernikov must have had a few "fuses in his brain sizzle" after the queen sacrifice with no **apparent** gain in sight. For me, Nez games are like watching an abstract artist like Jackson Plollock scattering paint drops (aka action painting) to create a masterpiece. Nez was the most abstract chess player for me of all and one of the most enjoyable.

I have 3 different videos of this game on the docket. I always forget this game, which is a shame as it's one of the best

I probably would have sacrificed my queen there in blitz, where there's lower stakes, but in classical I would have found a reply for black that I wouldn't be able to find a way through and give up on it.

Amazing queen sac. But i wonder, if Stockfish recommends this move, as the best move?
@claudiogonzalez992621 сағат бұрын
Engine suggests Qg4 and evaluation is +0.26. After the sac it's 0.00. So pretty much the same for modern computers, but a hell of a ride for humans.

Nezmedtinov is an unsung hero in chess. Paul Morphy is eulogized more than this legend

My old computer tought 5:22 minutes Capablanca-Reti game move and solved! Same computer tought only 4:37 minutes Kasparov-Kramink game move and solved! Same computer tought only 1:55 minutes Fischer vs Benko game move and solved! Computers telling the truth Capablanca better than dry safe Fischer! We should have computer analysis Queen sacrifice and Best is whos moves the computer thinking the longest! Fischer is not the favourite because computers solved his moves easily!!

Fischer's queen sacrifice against Byrne was clearly a matter of his prepared analysis, while I don't think this was.

You said it's just a sample line, but was there some reason white didn't protect the c2 pawn or black didn't take it at 14:46?

Is Nezhmetdinov the best player to not achieve the Grandmaster title? Who else could be considered as best non GM? (Aside from the guys who predate the title of course)
