You don't need h3 for the trap

I think that you need the bishop in h5 in order to be able later to fork the knight on c4 and the black king.

@@yvesbaumes Do you mean the knight on f3 and the queen? otherwise you couldn't do this tactic at all. and the bishop in g4 pins the knight just fine

If you don't h3 , you are going to lose your knight.

@@j.4880 if he doesn’t, the trap works. If he does, you take the bishop, threaten mate on f7, and you have the bishop pair.
