In this video, International Master Alex Astaneh is sharing with you another popular and important opening trap called the Lolli Attack. The Lolli Attack arises out of the Two Knights Defense of the Italian game and is very similar to the Fried Liver Attack.
The Lolli attack is an aggressive opening for white when black defends with the two knights defense, however instead of immediately sacrificing the knight on f7 as in the Fried Liver Attack, white instead plays 6.d4 (instead of 6.Nxf7), sacrificing another pawn while defending the knight on g5 with the bishop who’s diagonal is now opened.
In addition, white is ready to castle kingside which gives him another powerful piece, the rook, involved into the attack. Regardless of how black defends, white is sacrificing the knight on the f7-square and starts a very strong attack against the black king. Even though black is up in material, white has a big advantage and very high winning chances in these positions. It is very difficult to defend this attack properly and therefore you don’t want to play with the black pieces in this situation.
The focus of this video will be on the strategies and plans in the Lolli Attack demonstrated by a famous game played by Bobby Fischer, but you will also learn the difference between the Fried Liver Attack and the Lolli Attack. For many beginners the opening stage is the most exciting phase of a chess game. There are various chess tricks, traps, strategies, tips and ideas that you can use to fool your opponent. If you play the Italian game and like aggressive lines, we highly recommend knowing the Lolli Attack.

The Fried Liver Attack is the most annoying opening for me to play against. This was a badly needed video for me haha. Thank you for the video!

There is a mainline where you don't invite white into Fried Liver.

Why are you even playing against the Fried Liver? Just play the Two Knights' main line or the Fritz variation.

I like the opening and the middle game positions, and I like the presenter. You have a good calm voice, I believe it helps me concentrate. I made my choice and bought the course. I'll aim to make the Italian my main weapon.

Really great video, clear explanation. Not sure if you are still checking comments after 2 years. I wonder how to continue if after d4, black reply with Nxd4 . thanks

Playing these positions was so fun as a beginner as you had a fun attack which was a guaranteened win, too bad no one goes for these dubious lines as you go to higher levels.

I tend to prefer the Lolli Attack over the Fried Liver. Sure, if Black knows how best to play against it, then White's advantage isn't as big as with the Fried Liver, but let's be honest, any player good enough to minimize White's advantage in the Lolli Attack isn't going to play 5...Nxd5 in the first place. They're either going to go for the main line Two Knights, the Fritz Variation, or the Traxler.
