As always - thanks Jerry. Really great commentary - the 30+ years of playing chess paid off. Some of those moves by Garry caught me by surprise. Not something I see too much these days with so many players playing more on memory than on the pieces in front of them.

Whoa, so many great tactics in this game. Thank you, Jerry! BTW, I've been working through your standard games and trying to understand your own thought process. I feel like you think mostly positionally but have a pretty finely tuned sense of when to stop and calculate tactics. This game seems like Kasparov is thinking ahead tactically all the time. In any case, what you do here with these videos is incredibly valuable. Many thanks.

I like how castles covers both threats ... I've considered before looking for positions where there are two threats, but haven't really thought about, moves that counter two threats --- like the castle move in this game, covering kingside and also N on c1

I think the last name Kasparov is more like evenly pronounced w/o such accent on the first syllable. Not KAS parov but just kas par ov. Or even accent the par just a little bit. I think that's more like a Russian would say it. Correct me if I'm wrong!

I get lost after 3 moves if there are more than a few pieces on the board, but that's 2 more moves than I could calc as a true beginner. I saw Garry explaining 7 moves in advance with most variations he found over the board. An amazing mind for certain.

Hi Jerry. Can you slow down? You've got some seriously useful commentary for any chess player. It runs too fast for me though. I need to keep rewinding to absorb what you're saying. It may even help to introduce some shortish pauses when you ask the audience 'what to do?'
