Ms Plowden sadly passed away in 2007 at the age of 76. From the early 60s until late 70s she wrote many historical plays for the BBC. Mainly based on the Tudor / Elizabethan Age . Her " crime " output was much smaller but included this entertaining little gem . ( Broadcast in 1973 )

I don't usually listen to or view adaptations because of the way the plots are changed. However, this scriptwriter did a very good job sticking to the plot as it was written. "Henrietta Who?" is one of my favorite books by Catherine Aird. Thanks so much for giving me an enjoyable listening experience!

This is a Saturday Night Theatre drama production from Saturday, 13th October, 1973 adapted by Alison Plowden from the novel by Catherine Aird (source Genome). A woman is found on a roadside bend presumably the victim of a "hit and run" driver. The victim is identified by her daughter, Henrietta. However, a little later, the pathologist rings the Police Inspector and is adamant that couldn't possibly be the case, as the deceased had never had children...oh....and the contents of her writing bureau had been evidently disturbed by a burglar looking for something important to the interloper and just before Henrietta's 21st birthday. Features Ciaran Madden as the eponymous Henrietta Who ? of the title and Alan Rowe as Inspector Sloan with a young Nigel Anthony as PV Crosby.

Uncle Jim had a million acre ranch in Mentone in the West Texas Panhandle. What with the gas and oil leases, for his lifetime much of that was leased to big drilling companies. It turned out his lawyer and cousin scimmed a fortune over the years. Jim did not know as he was still a multi millionaire. Unlike this work of fiction, no one was done in to get access to his fortune.

Yes they are great but those stupid annoying tamu ads means one can never freak hear the end unless you get up and press 'skip' Do these people realise that for causing such repetitive annoyance you kill anyone's interest in the product. It's a real killer.

Indeed. But they were from a generation of actors who had spent many years in Rep before graduating to Radio / TV and film. Unlike today's crop - who seemingly go straight from Drama School to " stardom " ! Their complete lack of technique is apparent as soon as they actually attempt to do any genuine "acting ' !
