I've never seen these two play together. Both are amongst the greatest guitar players ever. Such a treat.

Boy do I miss them both. I remember listening to Chet on our reel to reel. That was quite some years ago. Roy, well I got to see him weekly on Hee Haw. Two very rare talents.

Love Chet's lick at 1:09. Looks like he's actually fingerpicking it with his thumb and forefinger. His lick at the end was great too.

@@wildbillhackett That’s where Chet decided to turn it up for the ladies! Chet was more of a finger-picker, whereas Roy was a flat-picking-chicken-picker. Chet had some serious left-hand fretting sometimes, though, as exemplified at 1:09

Chet was more of a crazy finger-picker, but he throws in that blazin’ left-hand lick at 1:09 just to remind Roy who the boss is.

It's funny: he says I want this first part done right, so I'll play it myself. Then Roy is playing right alone with him and smiling from ear to ear. Ha.
@fredericsartier28742 жыл бұрын
"I want the first part of this tune to be done right, you understand? so I'll play it myself." Not very polite for someone who is invited on the show. Not to mention that he's speaking to Roy Clark. 🤨
@gman48602 жыл бұрын
It was a joke. However Chet was way above Roy Clark and most people in playing ability.
@AmericasChoice Жыл бұрын
It was a standard line from Chet. He used on Jerry Reed all the time. And he was right, if he played the first part the song would go smoothly.
