I was talking about Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Hendrix to my Dad back in 70’s and he told me Roy Clark was the best. I blew him off thinking Roy was just some country bumpkin. After seeing this I wish my dad were still alive so I could tell him he was right!!! Miss my dad!!!

Most people have no idea how truly gifted Roy was. If Roy could play only guitar this well, he would be something. But Roy could play banjo, mandolin and fiddle just as well! He was one of the most gifted musicians we've seen in the last 100 years. If you're new to Roy, just do a search for him with mandolin, banjo or fiddle. You will not be disappointment.

Roy Clark and his pal Glen Campbell, were the greatest guitarists ever and it's a shame that people who never followed them ever knew that or their capabilities. Roy and Glen had an agreement. Glen would never try to play this if Roy would never try to play the William Tell Overture. The immense talent that has left this earth is unbelievable.

And they were nice guys, and they liked people. The number of times I saw great musicians playing and Glenn or Roy were in the audience letting them have their moment in the limelight. I was struck with the contrast of videos that Les Paul did later in life, he didn't seem to be a nice guy. Talented but bof.

I couldn't agree more and it shows. They don't allow for any quality talent to make it. When the small independent labels got scarfed by the huge ones like Sony Music etc.. it became nearly impossible to get discovered. There is plenty of new talent hidden out there. Shitty.

He has never been mentioned as a great guitarist probably because he is country and not rock and roll. Knew the name growing up but did not realize how great he was until I started to explore other muscians. Plus he was just a country singer on Hee Haw so how could he be that good....so, so wrong. He blew me away on this one! Unbelievable! Glad I know him as the musician he was.
