To everyone saying that they just quit playing, please keep playing, make each time a tribute to this mans talent. i sit in awe of it and am humbled by how humble he is about it as well.

Not only did he nail this rendition, he captured the drama of the piece. He made the guitar sound like a machine gun and he's just some old country boy who picked up a guitar well before there was an internet. Hats off to Roy Clark, and absolute master of the guitar.

I remember seeing this episode. Loved the Odd Couple and Roy Clark. He also plays a violin in this episode. I had no idea he could do that till I saw the show. He was really good. One my favorite all time guitar players. 😎✌♥️

How can he play that fast and make it sound so clear, and I don’t know if I’ve seen that kind of slapping on an acoustic before. Truly a legend, R.I.P

As an African American growing up in the 60's I used to watch Hee Haw ALL THE TIME. Nothing else on the TV. Roy was brilliant on the strings.

Roy Clarke was such an apex, next level, guitar and musical master he probably wore guitars out. ...his brute force here could easily trainwreck at any moment here, but he not only holds it together,... he commands it at will. A pure Legend.

I love how the audience just couldn’t contain the applause anymore when he started the extreme string popping near the end

***** Some professional musicians are virtuosi (virtuosos?) A scant few of those virtuosi are grand masters.
@alvie211 жыл бұрын
dieselscience and we are looking at one of the very very best right here. he was also the king of flash which he enjoyed to no end just for the fun of it and usually sprinkled some around every performance for grins, like the slap thing here, which I have never heard anyone attempt on a 6 string. His banjo work is just as jaw dropping.

Roy was (is) such an artist. He is a stand up comic, a singer/songwriter, and he can play literally anything that has strings. If all he could do is play the guitar he would still be famous.
