Performances like this, most people will never hear about, a true shame that.

I am currently looking for a complete video of this performance, including the Merle Travis portion. I thought ACL never released this after it was taped, but it seems someone has a recording of it. Can anyone tell me where/how to get the entire show on video?

Chet plays 2 guitars at once but one is invisible.

Always wondered why I suck at guitar playing. Just realized I have short, stubby fingers. And all the time I spent trying-wasted.

stupidest comment of all time.

Django reinhardt only used 2 fingers to play gypsy jazz guitar and he's legendary. As long as you have at least some sort of use of your fingers, you can't have that mindset. It sends a bad message.

Don't be ridiculous. Your fingers are probably not anywhere near as short and stubby as Brock Davisson, and he smokes the shit out of his guitar!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/kHOmiad6d69gb7s

I admire Chet Atkins immensely (and I'm a fingerpicker). However, IMHO, on this particular song the jaunty "tic-tock" beat doesn't really work. You may have a different opinion.
@Thund3rDrag0n126 жыл бұрын
I DON'T NEED YOUR PERMISSION TO HAVE A DIFFERENT OPINION! Kidding, kidding. I think it works well enough (especially with the guitar he's using). It gives it a Western feel. Though my favorite recording will always be the Billy Bauer one

He, he. I like most of Chet's work and his technique is always flawless, if not always exciting to me. Paul Yandell (guitar) and the piano and drummer are good players, too. But on this cut I didn't like the use of the phaser. I'm certainly opinionated :) I'll check out Billy Bauer's version, too, thx for the tip. Cheers
