Chettinad Kalyana Vazhakkai
Ingredients :
For masala:
Cinnamon - 2 sticks
Cloves - 4 nos
Fennel seeds - 1 tsp
Dried red chillies - 6 to 8 nos
Garlic - 8 to 10 cloves
Ginger - 1 inch piece
Coconut slices - 1/2 cup
Other ingredients:
Water
Salt as required
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Vazhakkai - 3 nos (raw banana)
Coconut Oil -3 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Onion - 1 cup (sliced)
Tomatoes - 1 large or 2 medium sized
Curry leaves
Recipe
Peel and chop the raw banana
Cook until fork tender in water along with salt and turmeric
Drain and keep it aside
In coconut oil
Add mustard and Urad dal
Add onions and sauté till translucent
Add the tomatoes and salt, cook till tomatoes turns mushy
Add the ground masala and sauté till the oil separates
Add the cooked raw banana and mix gently
Saute till the raw banana combined well with the masala
Add curry leaves and coriander leaves
