X75 is by far cooler. The MS12 mini gets incredibly hot, incredibly fast. I don’t trust that the MS12 mini would handle being under water.

Owned this one for a minute- Love the "warm" tint model color output- absolutely puts the old DX80 output to total shame as far as emitter color quality and also obviously QUANTITY, lol. I sold it after getting my feel of it, though. Extremely loud and tiny fans on a flashlight this small without much thought put into proper cooling materials/air channels, etc makes the cooling quite a gimmick and barely effective. The fans having intelligent thermal response would be nice- using the light in lower output modes and the fans only spinning as fast as necessary- if at all, would feel far more refined. A flashlight this expensive should be rocking the ever universal USB C PD charging rather than a wall-wart DC barrel charger. If you're going to claim IP water resistance, it might be a good idea to actually include a gasket on the charging port tail cap (mine did not include one at all.) I think the Acebeam X50 takes the cake against this little monster.

Could you test how long it takes to cool these lights (MS12, MK38, X75, etc) after 30 seconds or 1 minute of turbo?

The X75 stays cool while running, due to advanced design and superior fan cooling. Even after a minute of turbo, the body and handle are very cool. The bezel is very hot, but with the silicon cap on, you’ll never notice. The MS12 mini gets so hot after just 30s that pressing the button for 3s to turn on the fans almost burns my finger. Then the fans have to run for 5-10 minutes to make the light cool again while off. The MK38 is between those two extremes. The fans aren’t very useful, but the light is more massive, and generates less heat on turbo. Sorry no hard numbers here, but these descriptions should help.

Having taken apart an MS08 and RS50 it looks like the fans would be blowing about where the driver sits. I'm really concerned that this inherits the biggest problem from those two lights based on the design and construction. There's almost no heatsinking for the LEDs. In the MS08 and RS50 it was a small aluminum shelf that was only ~2mm thick.

Thank you for another really interesting video! Do you knew which of the Ms12 and the Acebeam X75 who can sustain the heat longest? I mean in practical use, not in turbo mode all the time. I presume it will be the Acebeam by virtue of it's higher mass but then fan cooling efficiency was of corse also matter...

100% the X75. The X75 is better in every way, runtime, output, price, cooling…. Except size. It’s larger.

I think the Imalent MS12 is superior to the X75. It's smaller, significantly lighter, turbo lasts 50% longer for only 15000 lumens less, and it can sustain output at 13000 lumens vs 11000 for the X75, which is strange considering the X75 has a larger area to dissipate heat. The only places the X75 wins is overall runtime, marginally on throw, and also on high mode it sustains 23000lm for 7 minutes vs 25000lm for 3 minutes on the MS12. This is all on paper of course. I have the X45 v2 only, and I hate the UI on that Acebeam.

The IMALENT should have come with a handle. I'm guessing running it even at MED it will get "too hot to hold" fast. Now if you are in HIGH mode.....however long you can be in HIGH before it steps down....having a handle would be a good thing no? :) The "hair dryer-like sound" of the fans--I think would be a non-issue outside. Probably wouldn't notice them unless you're focusing on the sound. Should be enough going on around you e.g. wind, people talking, maybe horses on some night ride or "search/rescue"....etc.... Are these lights actually useful? I mean if you're hiking or doing S&R (search and rescue) on foot you could do with a hand-held EDC light. If you're parat of maybe some Le agenciy looking for a fugitive...you'd be using air support...helicopter...using the helicopter's light. :) Don't know if these lights aren't just for "torch nerds" :)) "...I got a 50k lumens torch..na na NAAA11" :)

What a ridiculous piece of tech.(all of these fanned flamethrowers) I can't imagine a usage scenario outside of pecker measuring contests. Perhaps lighting up half the grand canyon is important lol. Walking around in the outdoors with fans whining is going to either keep you from ever seeing a bear (good thing?) or never being able to hear a bear (bad thing!) lol.
