GREAT JOB, I know I'm watching a smart man when he changes all the pulleys (tension-er) because he's got them as a bulk deal, not just changes them as they fail. I always think that is the smartest way to do it too!! Thanks for the clear tutorial.

How do I reroute a serpent belt for 92 GMC vanderum 5.7L 350 van
@chrisssergio2 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for the video! But when installing the new belt, is it supposed to be a little loose? I installed but haven’t started because I was afraid something would go wrong with the belt, but everything is on there correctly
@hoohoohoblin2 жыл бұрын
The tensioner keeps it tight, so it shouldn’t be loose. There is always tension on it from the tensioner spring.
@khiddgamer2 жыл бұрын
Would this problem be the result of a squeak?
@hoohoohoblin2 жыл бұрын
It could be. If there’s not enough tension, the belt will squeak. Try changing the belt first and see if the squeak stops.
@villeneuvewoodworks4 жыл бұрын
Quick question about the tensioner. It says load with an arrow pointing counterclockwise. Do I turn it to tighten the belt? I have a little more slack than I would like. Thanks
@hoohoohoblin4 жыл бұрын
No. You can’t change the amount of tension. It is automatic. On my truck, I bought the wrong belt one time, and it seemed a little loose, and it would jump off the pulleys when I turned on the air-conditioning. Maybe you bought the wrong belt for your truck. If you still have the original one, you need to match it with the new belt and make sure it’s the same length. On these engines, some of the belts are half an inch longer than others, so they look almost the same, but they’re loose enough to jump off under load.

Would you happen to know what belt # I can get to bypass the ac compresor on a 97 chevy 5.7?..I know is smaller but there is got to be one that I can use,thanks in advance if you can help me.
@hoohoohoblin4 жыл бұрын
I don’t know. It’s a tricky thing, because sometimes a belt will be just a quarter inch too long, and it will jump off the pulleys. Maybe you could measure around all of the pulleys with a string and then bring the string into an auto parts store and try to find a belt that matches. Or you could search the auto parts store website for a belt to fit your model of car without air-conditioning.
@theopinion94524 жыл бұрын
@@hoohoohoblin Thanks a lot,I will do the string part.
