In this video we will show you how to remove or replace the throttle body on Chevrolet Cruze also known as Holden Cruze and Daewoo Lacetti. This video should cover Chevrolet Sonic with the 1.8 engine since they share the same engine. We demonstrated how to remove and replace throttle body on Chevrolet Cruze with the 1.8 engine but it might be helpful on the 1.4 engine since they share the same family group. Dont drain your coolant ... just clamp the coolant lines running to the throttle body off with needle nose vise grip pliers ...

No don’t clamp stuff! Especially old line that are dry rotted. That’s how you break a pipe or meal in an area. I had to replace a hose of mine because an area ballooned and then popped on me.

A customer called me today about this car cruze 2011 issue with code on dashboard 84. He stating that the throttle body needs cleaning and he wants me to do it. I just Want to get an idea of how Im going to disambly the part. I wanted to ask just as a concern or curiosity do I have to re program the body throttle after I take it off and clean it. Bad advice to drain coolant. I put plastic sheeting over alternator and towels on top of plastic to catch any drips. Just a few drops came out. With the throttle body removed however, there is a small amount in the short hose on the bottom. Glad I did not drain the coolant, which was just a year old.

Hi mate. My chevy cruze 1.8 LS 2015 leaking coolant from throttle body . Neither from the U hose nor the other hoses. Suspecting leak from unit . And it costs a lot. I have a coolant leaking issue from last 18 months. I changed thermostat housing unit, reservoir , one tube from thermostat unit to the throttle body , water pump and now it's the throttle body from where leaking started. Can you suggest whether it can be fixed without replacement? Thanks mate in advance

Any solution for leaking problems? I have experienced same problems you said and the thermostatic valve have been sostituited too. Now for the leaking from the throttle body my mechanic has done a throttle body heater bypass and said it doesn't cause engine running problems. Any definitive solution for you?

why do you have to drain the coolant for just replacing throttle body?? is that only for 1.8l turbo?

The 1.8 doesn't have turbo. That's the 1.4

Because the 2 of the lines have coolant in them, emptying the coolant minimizes the leakage of those fluids and prevents a mess.

Throttle position sensor, its located on the side of the throttle body, theres little electric fingers inside that send the signal to the ECM, they come apart and cause idle surge and loss of power

They don't use them anymore. The computer and sensors just control idling from the throttle body now.

At 8:26 the “coolant line” as u said , the other end where it clicks on , what’s is that called. The piece where the end of the coolant line clicks onto , not the hose itself.

That's the surge line, or coolant return line, leads back to the reservoir. Ridiculously priced for such a simple piece of hardware. It's shoddily built, and can actually crack at the tip leading to pressure issues, problems with shifting, and puffs of white smoke during attempts to accelerate.
