Thanks you thank you and thank you . I had the issue with a dead battery and can’t open the trunk . Something told me to check KZbin and their you were with fantastic advice which worked . After the front charge the lights came on and was able to get the trunk and charge the battery Wish I could pay 💰 you for the help , which is appreciated. Again thanks. You forgot to hook up the outside vent tube. As you have it the battery will be venting the explosive gases to the inside of the car not the intended outside. Its a plastic tube that goes on the battery.

Shouldn't the battery vent tube have been connected to the side of the battery before closing the vehicle back up?

Little tip: connect the hot first, then you eliminate the chance of accidentally touching ground when tightening the terminal. Yeah, battery vent tube

Always remove negative first and positive last. then when re-installing new battery do the reverse. This will prevent shorts. The HHR is supposed to have a vented battery. You can see the vent tube bent away from the battery. I assume the person who put the Marine Battery in probably had a need for more power for a large stereo or something.
