It's a 1961 Super Sport and is 1 of 453 total produced by Chevrolet in 1961.

Are you able to do lots of work in a limited space?
Yes, without question. The biggest issues we face in our 2stallgarage are organization. Keeping the workspace organized and both stalls clear of clutter really helps with motivation, which then helps with productivity. Basically, if I see a clean workspace, I'm much more ready to dive into a project or even just scheduled maintenance like today's oil change.

The first car I had on the road when I was 16 was a 1961 348 powerglide SS Impala bubble top just like this only White with red side stripe. The interior was the same. Brings back some memories from 1971!!!!!!!!!

Are you going to do a follow-up video ? A 61 Impala SS is a frequently faked car. There are a couple of things missing that I saw in the video that should be there if this was a legitimate 61 SS. There is no tach on the steering column and I couldn't see the mounting holes for the tach if it has been removed. A 61 Impala SS had a tach on the steering column. There is no console plate around the floor shifter (the shifter isn't there either, just a hole in the floor) and I don't see the mounting tabs for the bracket sticking up through the carpet to mount the console. A 61 Impala SS had a console around the shifter if it was a 4 speed car. There was an option for a low HP 348 with automatic transmission but this car is not an automatic. Also note that someone buying an SS in 1961 probably wouldn't have ticked the boxes for 'dual rear antennas', 'door handle shields' and the 'front grille guard'. Most buyers just wanted the performance package...not the fluff. These items certainly could have been added bu owners over the years. A follow-up video showing details under the hood and including the VIN data plate in the driver's side door jamb and the data plate on the firewall by the brake master cylinder would help clear up any confusion. Pending more information I would say that this is a 61 Impala 2 door hardtop that 'probably' had accessory 61 Super Sport items bought over the counter and added to the car many years ago. The stuff could have been bought over the counter at a Chevy dealer in the 60's for very reasonable prices.

Very interesting! We’ll likely do a follow up video on this. It was purchased “nearly new” and dad is the 2nd owner of the car. It may have a story we don’t know. TBD and thanks for the great info on these.

Bucket seats were not available until 1962. All 61's (even Super Sports) had bench seats. All 61 Super Sports had a steering column mounted tach regardless of engine or HP. Only several versions of 348 (305 to 350 HP) and a 360 HP version of 409 were available with the SS package in 61.
