Looking at this, all this flex at 35 MPH with little to no weight. What is this vehicle going to do at 60 MPH, towing or hauling at or close to maximum weight. I don't have a lot of faith in survivability. How about freeway speeds above 70 MPH?

Yes, with a vehicle that flexes like this one yes. But, our modern engineering should be able to build a light durable structure that could be survivable at those stresses. The Russians in the '70 were landing probes that survived the stresses of landing on Venus. And this shit is what they come up with for 100-130K? Come on!

For all of you answering my question, thanks for your responses. I researched the matter and found that IIHS is aware that 17 gallons of premium unleaded is more than enough to burn down their state-of-the-art testing facility and injure their workers (and test dummies). So the Institute removes and flushes the gasoline (or diesel) from every test car. In its place, IIHS puts a liquid similar to paint thinner called Stoddard Solvent mixed with purple dye. This industrial solvent has a similar density to gasoline but is less flammable. Russ Rader of IIHS told BestRide, “We start out knowing how much the fluid in the tank weighs so if there is a leak, we can determine how much of the fluid leaked.” How much leaked is a good indication of whether a fire might have occurred in the real world. IIHS tells us that they have “…seen fuel leaks, although it hasn’t happened in a long time.” blog.bestride.com/news/safety-and-recalls/why-dont-gasoline-powered-cars-ever-blow-up-or-catch-fire-when-crash-tested/

I witnessed a head on accident between a 2008 chevy silverado 2500 with the 6.0 gass engine and a 2018 ford flex. Both vehicles were going around 60 miles per hour. The driver of the ford flex fell asleep and crossed the centerline into the path of the chevy 2500. The colision tore the front off of the flex and shoved the engine and transmission down and under the firewall. Both the driver and passenger doors of the flex still opened and closed as if the wreck had never happened. From the firewall back everything was still in place. Thr cab of the 2500 chevy was soved so far back that the drver had to be cut from the cab and life flighted to a local trama center for immediate open heart surgery for heart and chest trama from the dash and steering wheel being shoved into him and trapping him in the truck. That truck folded up like a pop can.

Curious as to why the first truck had a full tank of gas.
@ttank19943 күн бұрын
It could have had a full tank of water or something else just to test the tank with a a full load of "fuel" to make sure it doesn't detach itself from the vehicle and create a fire risk. It's probably a part of the testing to make sure the fuel tank is full weight.
@kenbearsley8322Күн бұрын
Also, liquid keeps moving forward with sudden stop of vehicle. That force of liquid puts extra stress on tank, bracing etc. Like other comments, if the tank ruptures with fuel in it, there's extra problems @@ttank1994

Now I know somebody out there's going to say no it isn't. But it is every time you increase one decibel it takes more power to get there. You need to increase power (watts) by a factor of 1.26.
