Video is so fantastic that this girl got it done!! Couple notes.. buy a little hose on the intake and just cut the old out if the way.. it breaks anyway. Second, firewall bolt no problem is a Mini ratchet, short extension and regular 10mm socket… the trick for me was to step on a stool to get over the top comfortable enough to get to it 👍 no worries following this video. Thank you soooo much!’

Fantastic video, very helpful. A few things I found: 1)don't fear that rear-most bolt. If you sort of lay on top of the motor you can feel it with your left hand and easily guide a 1/4" drive socket on a swivel onto it with just a ~3" extension. I thought this bolt would be a nightmare and it was actually very easy 2)the studs for the PCM come out with a 4mm socket, but use caution. I preferred having those studs gone when removing and installing the intake manifold 3)the hose that obscures the "hidden" bolt in the center of the manifold can be removed on the bench (or perhaps in the vehicle) if you heat it with a heat gun. I did this on the bench (also needed to retrieve my socket that had become trapped LOL) and just disconnected the bottom, making installation MUCH easier. The hose slid back into place by hand easily, although I used some WD40 to increase my odds of sliding it back into place with no drama

NOTE: for some models (or all, I'm not sure), there is a couple of wires that go all the way down the passenger side of the motor, and back to the front diff actuator. It took me about 10 mins to find it. Only accessible from the bottom of the truck as its on the back side of the oil pan. I didn't see that in this video, so I thought I'd just make a note of it. 😊 thanks for the video buddy. I used this as I was doing the job. Very helpful

This blows my mind, years ago, my inlaws had a trailblazer and it needed this job done, i looked at it and after trying for a while to figure out how to do this, i gave up and told them sorry, you have to take it in, what blows my mind, is that people think this is ok, this is the kind of crap i have seen time and time again from GM, getting a intake manifold and valve cover gasket off shouldn't be this hard, this is stupid! For all you GM lovers out there, have fun with stuff like this, but for me, its sayonara!

I bought my 2005 Trailblazer last year & I just changed the sparkplugs today. Even though it was running smoothly, I just changed the oil & air filter yesterday & I was just gonna change the plugs outta GP so I can see what's going on in there! I had three plugs that were a little wet around the sides but none on the electrodes ( Iridium's) but they were the original plugs & I bought it at 124,000 & I'm at 133,000 now. The plugs were the original plugs that came from the factory because the part numbers were old & they were worn but not done which is a very good thing considering the age! A little old man up in Canton Georgia had it & garage kept & she looks good! Clean with no rust! The coils were all dry but I figure to be doing this job pretty soon 😭 Thanks for the video & now I know what to do unless I pay my mechanic & I'll sit in the lounge watching TV 😁

15:00 That stiff hose is part of the PCV system. It can be a real pain to remove! There is a spring clamp, like the OEM radiator hose clamps but smaller, on the end of the hose next to that 10mm bolt. It's bonded to the hose. What I did was use a small pair of needle nose locking pliers and open up that clamp. Then the short end of the hose can be pulled off, and the long end will come right off the intake manifold. Remove that spring clamp from the hose and just use a small worm drive hose clamp. Makes removal much easier next time! You can see that clamp at 16:55.

@@TheCodesterr yes I replaced the valve cover gasket & the spark plug rings (I guess that's what it's called) & everything is working great. One thing I did mess up on was torque when righting the valve cover screws. I don't have a torque wrench, I was just using my ratchet set & over tighten one of the screw & broke it off inside the hole. Now I have to spend time one day to get that stem extracted out & replace that screw. But even with breaking that screw, everything is working great. No leaks because I guess the rest of the screws were so snug it mad a complete seal. I have no real complaints.

I just did this to my 03 trailblazer. I followed the steps you laid out. Very good video, It helped immensely. I thought I had followed the instructions perfectly, but when I went to start my trailblazer it turned over then stalled out immediately. When I tried to start it again it wouldn't start just the rapid clicking noise. I checked the fuses, & the PCM fuse had burned out "it wasn't burned out before. So I replaced that & now when I try to start it It just chugs for a little while Like it wants to start, but it not able to fully kick on. Can you think of anything I may have done wrong while making the repair that could cause this? Oh I originally changed the gaskets because my trailblazer started misfiring on cylinder 1, & I found a very small amount of oil in the cylinder.If you get a chance to respond I thank you. Again great video.

Hey man quick question. When taking the intake manifold bolts out do they come all the way out? Mine come basically all the way out then stop and they can wiggle around and I can keep on loosening them and they just spin as easy as the air blows.
@DMoneyGarage
@DMoneyGarage 3 жыл бұрын
They stay with the intake. They are captured. They can be pulled out but don’t need to be. If the intake has been off before I’ve seen them not stay in the intake. Hope this answers your question.

Do you think this is worth replacing on an 07 with 235k miles? No misfires on mine.. just a slow leak … not sure if it’s coming from coil packs and/or valve gasket. I replaced the spark plugs and if I remember correctly it wasn’t flooded with oil.. but could be wrong.

@@fuckcensorship69 oh man this was def a doozy. I took my time, but a couple days plus an all nighter I accomplished it. No leaks through the coil packs now. Glad I did it though. I say go for it if you’re not needing a vehicle for a few days. It wasn’t hard, just gotta work a few bolts here and there and be patient. The intake was the hardest part. Def need the right tools

is it completely necessary to undo all the connections on the passenger side of the motor?
@DMoneyGarage
@DMoneyGarage Жыл бұрын
No but the wires can be kinda tight getting the cover off. I do it because most of these are high mileage and wires can become weak. I do it to prevent broken wires.

@DMoneyGarage
@DMoneyGarage 2 жыл бұрын
Nope. Possible ignition coil damage but that’s it. If there isn’t any misfires I’ll clean the coils and put new plugs in with the repair. If it was misfiring I would replace the misfiring cylinders coil along with all plugs with the repair.

Hello, I have a very clean 2005 Envoy 144k. Simply replaced the plugs, easy. I stumbled on your video, omg what a mess. So is this an inevitable problem that I'm going to have to deal with some day? When removing coil #3, I noticed just a tiny bit of oil where the cover meets the head. Nothing like what you have here....not even close. Thanks Tom

Thanks for the video but in my opinion u took off way too much for just a simple gasket change. I only took off the computer..loosen top 2 bolts to alternator sliding it forward..that let me access to first air intake manifold bolt..the one in the back I used multiple ext...about 2ft If u have them like me...and went thru the wheel are for the far right intake bolt in the back by the heater hoses slid the whole unit to the left a lil and presto I can access the left side of the valve cover...all due to your direction though. God bless all and good luck 🙏

I've done a few but usually takes me around 2 hours. I'm very meticulous with a customers vehicle. I would say a first time doer should have it done within a half a day but no more than a day. But if it takes longer that no biggie, take pride in doing it yourself and saving some cash!
