Video is so fantastic that this girl got it done!! Couple notes.. buy a little hose on the intake and just cut the old out if the way.. it breaks anyway. Second, firewall bolt no problem is a Mini ratchet, short extension and regular 10mm socket… the trick for me was to step on a stool to get over the top comfortable enough to get to it 👍 no worries following this video. Thank you soooo much!’

Fantastic video, very helpful. A few things I found: 1)don't fear that rear-most bolt. If you sort of lay on top of the motor you can feel it with your left hand and easily guide a 1/4" drive socket on a swivel onto it with just a ~3" extension. I thought this bolt would be a nightmare and it was actually very easy 2)the studs for the PCM come out with a 4mm socket, but use caution. I preferred having those studs gone when removing and installing the intake manifold 3)the hose that obscures the "hidden" bolt in the center of the manifold can be removed on the bench (or perhaps in the vehicle) if you heat it with a heat gun. I did this on the bench (also needed to retrieve my socket that had become trapped LOL) and just disconnected the bottom, making installation MUCH easier. The hose slid back into place by hand easily, although I used some WD40 to increase my odds of sliding it back into place with no drama

NOTE: for some models (or all, I'm not sure), there is a couple of wires that go all the way down the passenger side of the motor, and back to the front diff actuator. It took me about 10 mins to find it. Only accessible from the bottom of the truck as its on the back side of the oil pan. I didn't see that in this video, so I thought I'd just make a note of it. 😊 thanks for the video buddy. I used this as I was doing the job. Very helpful

15:00 That stiff hose is part of the PCV system. It can be a real pain to remove! There is a spring clamp, like the OEM radiator hose clamps but smaller, on the end of the hose next to that 10mm bolt. It's bonded to the hose. What I did was use a small pair of needle nose locking pliers and open up that clamp. Then the short end of the hose can be pulled off, and the long end will come right off the intake manifold. Remove that spring clamp from the hose and just use a small worm drive hose clamp. Makes removal much easier next time! You can see that clamp at 16:55.

This blows my mind, years ago, my inlaws had a trailblazer and it needed this job done, i looked at it and after trying for a while to figure out how to do this, i gave up and told them sorry, you have to take it in, what blows my mind, is that people think this is ok, this is the kind of crap i have seen time and time again from GM, getting a intake manifold and valve cover gasket off shouldn't be this hard, this is stupid! I bought my 2005 Trailblazer last year & I just changed the sparkplugs today. Even though it was running smoothly, I just changed the oil & air filter yesterday & I was just gonna change the plugs outta GP so I can see what's going on in there! I had three plugs that were a little wet around the sides but none on the electrodes ( Iridium's) but they were the original plugs & I bought it at 124,000 & I'm at 133,000 now. The plugs were the original plugs that came from the factory because the part numbers were old & they were worn but not done which is a very good thing considering the age! A little old man up in Canton Georgia had it & garage kept & she looks good! Clean with no rust! The coils were all dry but I figure to be doing this job pretty soon 😭 Thanks for the video & now I know what to do unless I pay my mechanic & I'll sit in the lounge watching TV 😁

@@TheCodesterr yes I replaced the valve cover gasket & the spark plug rings (I guess that's what it's called) & everything is working great. I feel stupid but i can't find where to harnesses connect. Attached to the blue harness into the computer is a purple harness right before also right by the alternator on the harness that goes over the engine also near the computer is a small white harness... I know it aint much but i fr can't find where it goes..

Why did you have to take off the intake manifold I thought you can just remove throttle body?

Great video how long did it take???
@DMoneyGarage3 жыл бұрын
I've done a few but usually takes me around 2 hours. I'm very meticulous with a customers vehicle. I would say a first time doer should have it done within a half a day but no more than a day. But if it takes longer that no biggie, take pride in doing it yourself and saving some cash!

What about the intake gasket . doesn't need to be replaced
@DMoneyGarage4 жыл бұрын
My bad. I guess I didn't talk about that. Intake gasket is cheap enough I would replace it. Its rubber so if your pinching pennies, inspect it and itmf its still soft and not flat then it could be reused. But I would recommend replacing it.
@tomr34223 жыл бұрын
I replaced it only because the kit that was in stock came with a new one ( and the blue gaskets match) Cleaned the Throttle body, and new belt. I was replacing the fan clutch at the same time and having the fan and shroud out gave me lots of room to work. Found on the TB if you havent replaced it yet and you are in the area you might as well.

@DMoneyGarage3 жыл бұрын
Sure can. But I don't mind spending the extra 5 minutes to make more room🤷♂️.
