Looks like a nice engine build. Did you notice the difference in size of the intake ports of your heads verses the size of the intake gasket's ports and the size of the ports on the Aluminum intake you got from Summit? The heads you are using are the lowest flowing stock heads you can get. That is bad for performance. In time you should get yourself a nice set of stock oval port heads that match the same size port of your Weiand intake. Look for casting numbers ending in either 781 or 049. I just saw 781 heads on ebay for $260. These are the best stock oval port heads for performance. The mis-match in port size you have now is probably costing you 50 to 100 horsepower depending on the size cam you are using. The Weiand intake you got is also going to cost you some low rpm power, but will give you some top end rpm power if that is what you want. This is caused by the design of the plenum that sits right under the carb. Your intake has the center divider removed. This reduces low rpm power and torque, but moves the power band into the high (5000+ rpm range) rpm range. Great for drag racing, but not good for street driving. But the very small size of your heads, which are referred to as Peanut heads, will kill power over 4000 rpms. So the combination you have will not work well together. So the first chance you get is to get rid of those peanut heads and get the high performance stock oval port heads with casting numbers ending in either 049 (rare) or 781. Now I am not sure if these heads will fit a Gen V big block. They are from Gen IV. If not than you need to find the Gen V equivalents.

Thanks for all the valuable info. I'm obviously a rookie builder and will be looking to upgrade and change things on my engine and this will definitely help

They’re made for higher torque they’re called peanut port heads

@@atsemp10 That is correct, but the new small port designs produce more torque than the peanut heads even in the low RPM range.

It’s by a little company named “Weiand,” who has only been around for 80 or 90 years. It’s pronounced “WHY-AND.” As opposed to the Edelbrock intakes, who have only been around for about a hundred years (pronounced ED-EL-BROCK.).

@@DadbrosGarage no problem I just know BBC isn’t cheap sorry idk what size Allen head size it is you could just easily google it I’m sure and maybe even get a torque value for it as well

Did your instructions say to tighten those top bolts (5, 10, etc) just by hand, because you can crack the intake manifold by tightening them too much, since they aren't fully supported by the gasket?
