Your videos are great. One thing to note that may help others is to remove the spark plugs when turning the motor by hand. It makes it much easier, especially for valve adjustment

Great videos. The only suggestion I would like to add is to use sealer on the intake bolts. I would use a non hardening sealer such as Permatex #2 on the bolt threads

With all the money you invested in aluminum heads and roller rockers, I would have gone with a roller cam. No break in worries, and more power.

Hydraulic Roller or Solid? Thanks for watching!
@ekitching
@ekitching 3 жыл бұрын
@@2carpros Most guys install hydraulic rollers if it is a street car. There are a few solid rollers, which make more rpm and more power, but there is a tradeoff, they are less reliable and you have to check them every so often. Pay close attention to compression and head flow when choosing a cam. Also, use good roller lifters like Crane or Morel. Gen 6 blocks are better for roller cams because the lifter bores are longer and more accurate to help keep the roller lifter in alignment.

454 is already built. But now I want 1 piece pushrods and roller rockers. Can I replace with same spec or do I need to measure everything again

I've just remembered something, if a Gen 4 454 is re-built with the old iron heads, wouldn't the unleaded gas give them a problem? Thanks in advance Teacher !

Is there a way to run a solid flat tappet cam in a 454 & still get oil to the top end? I don’t want the cost of a roller cam & I don’t like hydraulic lifters

@2carpros

The bootlegger camshaft I used in this would work for you. It depends how much lift and duration and overlap you want. Summit has a great page on it. help.summitracing.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4698/~/what-camshaft-should-i-buy%3F Thanks for watching and good luck with your build!

So what is it that makes the different length rods. Is it the lobes on the cam, or it being a big block or is it the aluminum heads? Or the roller rockers
@2carpros
@2carpros 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah if you want to get super technical you can change your pushrod length to adjust for lobe lift or if you have solid lifters or something like that. We didn't change too much so the stock length will be fine. Thanks for watching!

2 Question!! If you’re using roller rockers why not roller lifters? Expense or unnecessary? How long do you let the silicon set up on the ends before installing the manifold?
@2carpros

Just unnecessary for the street build we are going for. I work as quick as I can, I don't want that silicone setting without the intake on. Thanks for watching David!
