Great interview,just now watched it which was my first time seeing it. Very very interesting to see the easy listening pop star legend Barry manilow sitting along with Chevy chase as they both had the roles as the singer and the actor in the same movie "Foul play ". Chevy and Dan made great appearances together in movies and outside of the movies! Both are comedy gold and will forever be comedy legends for the marvelous work they did in their careers!!!

Aykroyd is such a gem - you can tell he’s kind-hearted and sweet. By contrast, Chevy gives off such an arrogant and obnoxious vibe. Both funny in their own respects, but I’d rather have a drink with Danny any day.

Dan's hilarious. He used to show up in our area in disguise. I guess his Dad used to live around here. He'd show up in music events and other tourist attractions. Once in awhile he'd show up on tv or in the paper doing a quick picture & interview.
@Bootrosgali2 жыл бұрын
That's Chevys persona , he HAS to ride it. And he takes the opportunity to undercut as much as he can if you look out for it. Don't you understand the audience loves the cocky guy. You *are* American? He was Americas #1 Cocky Asshole. You are out of time context completely and have ZERO perspective and not only that you take the your contemporary social vitrue signalling contextual mindset and project it onto a little bit of mid 80s late evening light entertainment business from 40 years ago. Its completely sad.

Oh, hell, yes. Dan is the funnier one, too. Imho. I'd also say he's more versatile than Chase. Chase is more of a one-note performer. Aykroyd is adept at both comedy and drama.
@VideoAmericanStyle2 жыл бұрын
@@Bootrosgali nah, there are plenty of accounts of Chevy being an insufferable a-hole off camera, too. He came from an extremely wealthy and emotionally abusive family, which clearly left a few marks on his character. And his comedic style really doesn’t hold up well in retrospect, whereas Dan’s (and many others from his era) does. His career mostly dried up by the mid-90s when the rest of the world decided to move on.

The new SNL question - it was going to be one of the best casts in SNL history.
@jedijones Жыл бұрын
No. This was the "troubled" year with Randy Quaid, Joan Cusack, Robert Downey Jr. and Anthony Michael Hall. They had only been on for about four episodes by this point. Chevy did their second one. By the end of the season, NBC gave Lorne an ultimatum, find a new cast or the show would be cancelled. Jon Lovitz, Dennis Miller and Nora Dunn were the only ones from this cast to survive into the next year.
