Buddy your video defiantly made the difference for me. I got stranded in Chicago in a whole foods parking lot. My fuel pump went out. I knew right away I was in for a treat. Luckily I travel with told and a floor jack. But I changed that sucker myself. Took me about 5 hours. The biggest issues I had were the plastic pressure fittings with the buttons. Those things suck. Took everything I had in me to get them to come off. Anyways I really appreciate the video.

I always have a 4 ton floor jack, bottle jack, two jack stands and tool box full of wrenches, sockets, adapters etc. My wife absolutely hates it because it takes up around half my trunk space, but driving old junker cars comes with plenty of downsides lol. Having all that stuff on hand has saved me thousands of dollars in tow truck fees alone, not to mention all the time I've saved.

Fuel pump for my cobalt 08 is different from the one you installing. I purchased a few pump that you have in the video because that’s what the auto parts store told me I needed, but upon removing the gas tank the fuel pump was small cylindrical with a green filter

That's what I got. How do you replace it on a PZEV?
@mcm48594 жыл бұрын
@@mikekano on rockauto you have to buy the pzev filter system. Then you also have to buy the fuel pump, because it's dumb to do all this work and not replace the pump. After you drop the tank and open it up you'll see a platform inside the tank that holds all of the elements. It's pretty straight forward, but reaching in and manipulating everything through the tank port hole was terrible. That said, the pzev system is supposed to last the life of the car. It also has a really long warranty so it might be worth calling gm if you have an issue. I wanted the experience, so I just did it. I had intermittent fuel delivery issues.
@mikekano4 жыл бұрын
@@mcm4859 God bless you. I found out I have that pzev stuff once i had the tank off. The cables and connectors were burned inside the tank wich freaked me out thinking it could have caught fire. Anyways, thanks for responding I'll get those parts tomorrow.

Only thing I question is disconnecting the hot side of the battery. As long as that battery is grounded you risk cross arc. I was shown to do this differently to also prevent possible damage to on board modules and computers.

@@timort2260 yeah my wife’s car is broke down in my job site, thinking I might drill an access while the tank is down
@timort22603 жыл бұрын
@@williammorris3303 just make sure if you do make it big enough to pull the fuel line out with the pump. It's kinda tight between the tank and floor but as long as you get the old pump and lines out you can probably feed the fuel lines in with the pump upside the rotate it all to drop the pump in the tank. If that makes sense. Not sure how the pump failed in your car. But mine probably was just the fuel lines being broken at the fuel pump. We had the dealer do it since it was under warranty but they broke plastic parts off the base of the pump trying to seat it fully. 2nd pump I did and couldn't tell if it was the lines or the pump that failed.
