Have a question I'm planning to my engine soon I want to get custom made forge pistons soon a set of four what im planning to work on is a 2008 chevy 2.9L engine out of a 2008 chevy colorado I'm curious so I know how much to save up what I want to do is eliminate any weaknesses and be better than stock and be more reliable and I was curious a d thinking about moly piston rings or chrome moly piston rings what ever is better

What mileage was this Colorado when it need a timing chain? How did you know it needed a chain?

Pretty sure you have those cams in wrong. The flats on the back of the cams should be both up. Meaning the cam lobes should both be up and pointing inwards slightly.

The keyway on the crank sprocket needs to sit at 12 not 1pm. That bottom dot on the sprocket should be around 6pm. That is true tdc. Also that dude was right, ur cams were not in the right place, I could see a new dash made on the exhaust cam. Yeah the engine will run but eventually ur gonna throw a p0017 or a p0014

I have those codes too. I think it’s from a loose timing chain. Looking into changing it out now.

2.9? They have a 2.8 4 cylinder and a 3.5 5 cylinder engine. Mine even says it is a 2.8.

2007 model years changed a bit. They became 2.9, and I believe 3.7 for the 5 cylinder

NOT at TDC! The alignment hole in the crank is at 11:30 when at TDC. Helpful but not accurate.
