Had my 2023 ZR2 for almost 2 years now. Got it minus the Bison package for 52K. More truck than I'll ever need. Tons of fun. No regrets

I’ve had a 2025 Colorado ZR2 for about 3 weeks now. I drove nothing but small cars my whole life so this is like heaven. Got me through a couple good snows without issues. I’ve been babying it a lot especially during these below zero days. The bison turned me off with the spare so I decided on a midnight edition zr2 instead
@Jason-Samko10 күн бұрын
love the zr2. love the bison as well but the spare tire on the bison is a bummer.

Love the look of the Colorado and Canyon. I keep my trucks too long to have a turbo though. And wow, $63K? Too rich for me.

Really cool capable truck. My only dislikes are no bed lights, the spare tire location and 3.42 gearing. With 35’s should be 4.10’s or better yet 4.56’s. Thanks for the video!
@Jason-Samko11 күн бұрын
@ronaldbarnes8302 agree 35s are alot to turn over for 342 gears. But from what I hear they are doing well
@is656611 күн бұрын
With 4.56 rear the fuel economy would probably be in the single digits.
@Jason-Samko11 күн бұрын
@is6566 410s would be perfect. Your right the mpg hit would be there for sure. But I don't think people buy this for mpgs. The f150 raptor, rho etc are all between 10 and 12 mpg.
@redjay168911 күн бұрын
Still no rear view mirror camera in the Bison pkg. to ignore the spare tire?? 😢
@Jason-Samko10 күн бұрын
Great point. the rear camera mirror would get the tire out of sight.

Really want them to beef up the frame in the other trims and make a half cab so it can have a 6ft bed then I’m in
@l33tm4ch1n3111 күн бұрын
I own a bison, and I have a solution to the spare tire in the bed. ACI Access Outlander Soft-Topper. I have it on order, and by my reckoning its the simplest solution to cover the bed. What makes it different from other soft tops is the way it folds down. It folds over the spare tire and the carrier. Its basically a soft cap for the truck but you can fold it down when you need a full bed. A challenge to consider is that you can't just take the tire down. The carrier itself is a whole frame that bolts to the back of the bed. Thats got to go if you run a standard tonneau. A future upgrade would be to run a Rigd swing out tire carrier off the hitch reciever. That save a lot of space in the bed. Though you might lose your rear camera view. Lots of options to get around that spare tire.

love the soft toppers and they are affordable and functional.

Jason. I've had my colorado zr2 for 2 weeks now and I've yet to have my average mpg on my trip meter go above 16mpg and that's mostly highway driving. You see this on your truck?
@Jason-Samko11 күн бұрын
Yep we are right at 16 on average too
@brockwhite973911 күн бұрын
@Jason-Samko this is concerning for me simply because it should be 17. Mine usually reads 14 to 15.
@davidwethington932011 күн бұрын
@@brockwhite9739 mine went up after about 1200 miles. I was at about 14.8 and now it's 16.9. I just took a quick trip for work. Around 400 miles. I got up to 18.7 going and 16.9 coming back. It was pretty windy and traffic sucked coming back. I'm assuming that was most of the difference.
@brockwhite973911 күн бұрын
@davidwethington9320 ok. I'm at around 600 miles so I kinda figured maybe a break in period would help.
@Jason-Samko11 күн бұрын
@brockwhite9739 it's a turbo. And fun to be in the boost. I bet if you baby it and keep it around 65 or 70 on highway the numbers will get there. Faster and the mogs suffers especially with the lift on this
@traebishop384611 күн бұрын
These things are awesome, but until they figure out how to stuff the spare under the truck, I'd still go with a regular ZR2.
@Jason-Samko11 күн бұрын

I didn't want to pay the extra $10k-12k for the Bison (without an engine upgrade), so, I just ordered the Bison jounce damper kit (backordered), and I'm going to swap out the 1/2" lift blocks with 1" blocks so I can go to actual 35's (35X11.5R17), a little larger in diameter, but basically OEM ZR2 width (narrower than the Bison). I don't need the fancy boron skids, bumpers, and seats. I'll get som aluminum skids and I'll basically have a Bison for about 1/2 the price.
