A perfect work around to fix this! Awesome! My son in law wondered why Chevy put that crimped metal piece on the end, that's where mine was leaking, I said just being stupid like all the other problems with this POS. (I'd recommend putting a heat shield sleeve or heat tape around the new hose before putting the big metal heat shield back on.) Thanks again!

What’s the part number I’ve got to replace the same thing
@rogerkober9836 Жыл бұрын
I’m gonna try this work around on the turbo coolant line. I was told you have to drain the coolant from the turbo (there’s a drain plug on it). You didn’t do that did you? Did your repair hold up? Thanks
@TheRollingTimes Жыл бұрын
The repair held up for awhile, we ended up having the turbo off for other repairs later and replaced the entire line at that time. You can drain the coolant before disconnecting lines so you dont make as much of a mess.

How would you know that’s where it’s leaking would you smell it in the heating?
@TheRollingTimes2 жыл бұрын
Rent coolant pressure tester from parts store. Let system cool off. Pressurize system with tool and find the leak
@BMAN20653 жыл бұрын
hey man when that hose crimp was leaking did you smell coolent burning on anything?. thanks
@darthvadersburntdick23003 жыл бұрын
It was leaking pretty good and dripping on the exhaust manifold
@TheRollingTimes2 жыл бұрын
Yeah because it drips right on to the exhaust youll normally smell the leak before you see it

Thanks for the nice video. I replaced mine with 3/8 gates heater hose from advanced auto. I fixed the leaking but the hose seriously bent between the two joints. How would I be sure that the coolant flow is not blocked by this? If blocked, what problems could it arise? Thanks.
@TheRollingTimes3 жыл бұрын
So you want to keep the hose as short as possible to minimize the bend in the hose. Most heater hose will be okay with up to a 90° bend. The cooling system is under 12 or more psi while the engine is at tenperature so it would take a lot to block flow of that hose.
@nipu0113 жыл бұрын
@@TheRollingTimes Thank you for your answer. I have already worked on it and found the same idea as you have mentioned here. Your video helped me pinpoint the leak position as this is generally covered with a shield. I used a Dremel to cut the metal. The addition of couple of drops of coolant made the metal cutting easier.
@RomeoAirsoft2 жыл бұрын
@@nipu011 I know this is an old comment, but how did it end up working for you? I did the same thing and encountered a hefty bend as well, and am wondering how it went. Also, did you have to use a heat shield for it like the OEM one? Thanks
@cameronroush79612 жыл бұрын
It would have helped if you could have shown us how you replaced it with the new hose and the hose clamps. Thanks
@TheRollingTimes2 жыл бұрын
Cut off factory crimp fitting. Slide on new rubber hose. Tighten hose clamps. 👍🏻
@cameronroush79612 жыл бұрын
I know but I’m saying you didn’t show me what the new hose looked like where you put the hose claps. Most KZbin videos show you step by step. Not all of us are smart when it comes to cars.
@TheRollingTimes2 жыл бұрын
@@cameronroush7961 i apologize i try to be pretty step by step with my diys but hose clamps are hose clamps and you always want to clamp them on the hose close to the ridge or flange of whatever they slid on to. It generally takes me twice as long to do a repair if i video a DIY. Unfortunately i do have to work a full time job and do these repairs and try to make videos while doing them so apologize if i dont have the time to get every little detail.
@williammills60463 жыл бұрын
what hose did you get the exact name
@darthvadersburntdick23003 жыл бұрын
I just took the old hose to auto zone and they cut a piece of hose about 8” long and I cut it down to size. It is a 3/8” hose.

@@shawn_baker it was a temporary fix, the turbo had to be removed for some other work about half a year to a year later so at that time we just replaced the entire line. I did notice we had to adjust the clamp after a few thousand miles but it did hold.

@TheRollingTimes2 жыл бұрын
The end going into the turbo is still metal. All you are doing is changing the factory crimp fitting to a hose clamp because the factory fittings known to leak. Under the factory crimp fitting is rubber hose.
