Falcon, I just thought of something that I don't think you mentioned in your vid. Chevy's instructions in the FSM say you should bring the temperature of the transmission fluid up to at least 185 F and no more than 215 (I think this is accurate, but I could be wrong). Did you do this? The FSM warns that if you don't do this, it will result in an incorrect amount of ATF in the transmission.

I like the coolant hose modification (small hose leading to resavoir coming top of engine ) those oem quick connect with the metal clip tend to break easy and leak.I fixed mine with a brass barb connector and 5/8 hose sleeve over smalk hose and 2 hose clamps problem solved.

Thank you for your explanations. I have to do it at work, a customer broke his right shaft because the suspension ball failed ( She was warned that there was a lot of gambling), it's on a Chevy Trax. Thank you for your video... I too have a 2010 model like the other poster and it said 8.5L however I drained out 4L then I put 3L back in and it started coming out of the fill plug... then I turned on the car and kept filling another 1L untill it came out of the fill plug again. total put back in was 4L I then went for a 5 minute drive parked with the car idling then took off the fill plug and nothing was draining out so I ended up putting in another 700ml untill it started coming out of fill plug again, My question is why did the car want even more Fluid once I went for a drive opposed to idling the car in PARK ? I ended up taking out 4L and put 4.7L back in... I assume it may have not been filled correctly originally or that it has a small leak...... have I over filled? Thanks for your great video very helpful

Why are you getting it flushed? It doesn't need it. Plus, this can create even more problems by dislodging sludge and particles that are sealing gaps and preventing leaks, etc. Trust me, this is a bad idea. Save money and just have the fluid replaced.

@TheLifeOfMartin
@TheLifeOfMartin 5 жыл бұрын
no. If it's slipping, the damage is done. it won't damage it more but all the clutch particles that keep it from slipping more, will leave the transmission, causing it to slip more. if it's a good transmission, sure, replace it every once in a while. if old, nah, cos you'll need a rebuild to fix anything.

@XXXXLance
@XXXXLance 4 жыл бұрын
@Arnoldo Adaire Temperature needs to be above 60*c, to be sure around 85-95*c. The 6T40/45 utilize a thermal type element to control the oil level in the unit similar to other GM units. Known as a “Fluid Level Control Valve” the unit is basically a thermally controlled stand pipe. Fluid Level Control Valve is attached to the transmission case, next to the control valve body assembly, and is designed to control the fluid level in the control valve body cover assembly.The fluid level control valve contains a temperature sensitive strip of metal that reacts to fluid temperature changes and opens or closes a fluid passage.The maximum fluid level in the control valve body cover area is controlled as fluid overflows the top of the fluid level control valve pipe and drains into the case sump. At temperatures below 60°C (140°F), the thermostatic element allows fluid to drain from the control valve body cover area into the case sump. As the temperature of the transmission fluid increases, the thermostatic element traps fluid in the control valve body cover area and the fluid level rises. This level of transmission fluid is required in order to maintain the operation of the hydraulic system in the transmission.A damaged or loose thermostatic element could cause fluid foaming or incorrect fluid level.The fluid temperature must be at operating temperature in order to obtain a proper fluid level in the case. Checking the fluid level with the fluid temperature below operating temperature will result in a high fluid level (over filled).This will cause the transaxle to over heat setting code P0218 and possibly fluid leaking out of the vent.

I have heard it too. Usually just the first time it makes a shift since a cold start. There is a click or spring release noise. Transmission works fine otherwise. Also once the noise has happened it wont do it again until the car is turned off and sits for a bit.

I had a small transmission leak in my Cruze and wanted to check the fluid level. After driving the car for a bit I removed the overfill plug and the fluid ran out pretty good. I didn't let too much run out and replaced the plug, should I have let it flow out until it quit and then fill? By just removing the overfill plug and not the drain plug it wont let all the fluid run out will it? I don't want to harm the transmission. Thanks

Hi thank you for your video . I own a 2014 chevy sonic 1.4 turbo with automatic transmission I believe it's the same engine and trans in this chevy cruze ... question is after I drain fluid and put drain plug back in then add fluid shouldn't I move it thru the gears then take it for a ride to get the tranny fluid up to the proper operating temperature then put it back up on the ramps and jack up the back so its level then pull the level plug bc I have read it must be at correct level and correct operating temperature first then pull the bolt to check to see if fluid weeps out bc hot fluid expands right? Thank you Pennsylvania 😊

Falcon's Garage hi just wanted to say I drained my automatic transmission fluid and it was black .. 4.5 quarts came out after I let it drain 45 minutes then I refilled it with 4.5 quarts but after I ran it three the gears and let it idle for a long time even bringing up the rpms to 2000 I then pulled the leveler plug but nothing came out so i dumped in the other half a quart which then it started coming out yes i had it running.... i think i was previously low because I changed my radiator ... Great news tho with the new 5 quarts of tranny fluid oh my it runs like it was new!!!!!!.. Question there still is 4.5 of old fluid in system bc it holds 9 quarts total so I'm going to be doing 3 more drain and fills every 500 miles as I believe this will bring me to within 90 some % Of all new fluid .. what do you think 2014 chevy sonic 1.4 turbo ..... When I put my car into reverse and press the gas the car moved right away, as soon as I put my car into drive and I press the gas it revs up to 4000rpm before moving. This happens every morning, night and day. When I’m at a res light and my car is in drive I’ll take my foot off the brake and the car won’t move and if it does it goes backwards. When I’m driving at about 60miles the car will be rev up to about 5000rmp and won’t shift down. I’ve took my car to 3 different places and even the dealership and they can’t tell me what’s wrong with it. Thank you
