Hello THank you for the video. I have a GMC Terrain 2011 and I'M taking a chance to try to change the breaks :-) Please could you tell me how many foot/pounds to tork the bolts? For the braket of pads and the wheels etc. I'm a french and my english is sometimes difficult to understand. If you write it, I will be more sure :-) Thank you again

You’re welcome. Here are the torque specifications you need: Brake caliper mounting bracket= 92 ft lb Brake caliper slider pin bolts= 20 ft lb Wheel lug nuts= 140 ft lb Hope this helps. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe

Awesome video. I like the addition to with the torque specifications. Would love to see a video on how to do brake fluid exchange

Thanks for watching. A lot of KZbinrs never mention the torque specs. Torque is the most important part of working on a car. I do plan on doing a brake bleed video near the end of the summer. I have a ton of videos lined up so please like and subscribe so you can catch all the goodness.

What happens if the screw on the rotor is stripped? I got everything off and noticed the screw was stripped and I can’t get it off 😢
@BillOfAllTrades2016Ай бұрын
You can just drill it out if you want. It will work fine without it. Thanks for the question. Please like and subscribe

I heard you need to loosen/open brake fluid bleeder when compressing caliper, is this nit necessary?

Yes if you have ABS braking

EEEEK! I think I can do this but can you come to my house and train me? LOL! I am just NOT in the mood to pay out the wahzoo for the installation! Great video!

I believe in you. I know you can do it. Everything only goes one way so there is no possible way to put it together wrong. So if you have it put together you know you did it right. Just take your time. Don’t rush. Keep your phone near you to look back if you need. Then it’s like I’m right there mentoring you. Please let me know how it goes. Thanks for watching

Also - here is a question for you. I changed my sway bar links a year ago. That fixed the "clunking" noise in the front. It's back again. I checked them to see if they needed to be tightened when I had the wheels off for the brakes - super tight. With that said - could it be the bushings? If so - do you have a video on how to do that on an Equinox?
@BillOfAllTrades2016 Жыл бұрын
Yes the bushings could be stretched out and worn. I don’t have a video for the bushings yet. I ran out of time this summer doing all my other suspension and brake videos. But I can describe the process. It’s very simple. Jack the vehicle up, and with the wheel off, grab the sway bar and shake it. It should not move in the bushing. If it does then that is the cause of the clunk. If you look at the top of the bushing it has a bracket on it with two bolts (15mm I think). Take the two bolts ontop off and the bracket will pop off. There is a seem in the bushing so you can pull it open an off the sway bar. Then put you new bushings in. The only tough part is getting in the tight angle with the wrench. Use lots of penetrating oil to assist. Hope this helps. Please let me know if it’s the right diagnosis and how the service goes

ok so I changed my brakes and rotors. I used Detroit Axel. I ended up having to do the same thing that you had to do with using the clips that were already on my car and not the new ones. The new ones would not stay on no matter what I did. I cleaned my old ones. The brakes work great! However,.... They are still grinding - I believe, in the front. I changed them a month ago now. I took my car out right after I changed the brakes and rotors to perform the hard stops, etc. What did I do wrong? I'm also get a TON of brake dust on the front.
@BillOfAllTrades2016 Жыл бұрын
How many miles have you driven since the brake service? This grinding you are experiencing… is it just when you press the brake? The reason I ask these two questions is because brakes have a “bedding in” period of roughly 400 miles. The brake pads may grind upon stopping during this bedding in phase. But after that it should fade away. As for the brake dust, Some pads shed more dust than others. I’ve never used Detroit axle, however Mine are also leaving lots of dust as well. Hope this info helps. Please like and subscribe

@@BillOfAllTrades2016 I would say at least 300 miles if not a little more.

If you have ABS brake system better open that bleeder screw some before you push that piston back just a tip. Great vid tho👍

92 pounds of torque on the caliper bracket mount is wrong! It is 75 pounds. How do I know? Because I just snapped the dang bolt off. The chevy specs say 75 pounds torque.
@BillOfAllTrades20162 жыл бұрын
Just because you snapped a bolt doesn’t tell us anything about a torque spec. Could just have been seized and you forced it too much. the Haynes manual says 92 foot pounds. Not sure what “Chevy specs” you are talking about. But it’s best advised to buy a Haynes manual as you have had trouble once already. And let’s re torque those bolts asap as they need 17 more ft pounds. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe
