"Anyone can put the wheel back on" Wish that was true. I am next to Fort Bragg, I do service calls and tow for USAA Insurance. There are 100's of GI's that can't change a tire when they get a flat, I know this for a fact. Many can't drive a stick either. I don't blame them, but where is the dad or uncle to teach them?

I guess you and I grew up working on cars etc. and I though just puttin a wheel back on would be no trick at all. but then I work on small engines mostly and some people have no idea about them , they just know if they run that's all they care about.

Jonathan W totally, my big bro taught me when was 14 in his 91 Civic si, touchy clutch to learn on. Lots of fun in empty parking lots.

I guess it just slipped his mind about that, I'm sure he knew that would be that way,,

thanks, I should have made it more clear of the sizes but as long as you got it, that's the main thing.

Gotta put my winter tires on today, so may as well change the front pads at the same time. Yes pretty straight forward, but I was curious if the caliper bolts needed to be torqued, or just snugged up good.

I am by no means an expert at anything but I have worked on machines for over 50 years and I only use a torque wrench on things like car engine head bolts, rod and main bearing cap bolts, other wise I just use common sense. lol after you break a few bolts off you''ll get a feel for it..

Good video. But I am surprised you didn't use jackstands to support it. I don't trust a floor jack good enough to do without them. Just had too many floor jacks to leak down
@MissouriOldTimer
@MissouriOldTimer 7 жыл бұрын
stands are a good idea but since I wasn't going to be under the car, I didn't put them under there,, this jack does leak down but it takes a long time.

do rear break pads have warning scrapers my pads are low and I don't want to warp the disc
@MissouriOldTimer
@MissouriOldTimer 7 жыл бұрын
I don't know,, I thought these pads would have them but they didn't ,,someone might have broken them off , but it you suspect your pads are bad, it's probably best to change them,, it's easy and not real expensive, if you do it yourself that is.

as long as I am able I will keep working on my stuff, I can't afford to have it done and secondly some mechanics might kinda inflate the charges.. lol

Thank you Sir, I've never replaced brakes on a car, actually in my 61 years I've never done any mechanical work on my vehicles until recently, I appreciate people such as yourself who know what they are doing. I've repaired a leak in my oil pan, changed my oil, oil filter, air filter, spark plugs, and VVT Selonoids. This Ole Lady is tired of paying to have a mechanic to work on my HHR if I can do it myself. Now that I've watched your very persise, detailed video I feel confident I can do the brakes as well. With that said there are many videos on KZbin that don't go into great detail or just do the work without saying a darn word, yep not very helpful at all. Great Video, extremely helpful and approximated! Time to getter done.

I am glad you got something out of the video, I'm afraid in a lot of my videos I don't go into much detail either, thanks for looking.

The 15 mmr bolts were hard to loosen so I took a scissor jack and put the end of the ratchet on top of scissor lift and started raising the scissor lift until the bolt would break loose it worked

yes, I have used a hydraulic jack at times in the same manner, it does work very well.
