Would you recommend doing this process before a filter change or after? I just installed a “new” (used) transmission of another impala and don’t know its history and wanted to have a baseline record on everything.

It says this trans takes 13+ qts completely empty. How is it considered an exchange if only half is being replaced?

Up to you if you want to do a 3 or 4 gallon fluid exchange. I found 2 gallons to work just fine in that the fluid stays red a year later.

@@umpy3152 yeah this is a much quicker way of changing fluid but you still have to do the filter eventually which requires dropping the pan.

What about the screen-filter in the tranny? this is always one of those controversies among the mechanics. Some say do a flush. Some say do a fluid & filter change. 🤔

have a 2009 chevy impala with no dipstick how do I top it back off after replacing the radiator?
@hardlymovingpro Жыл бұрын
There should be a side or top fill port plug. Otherwise pump through the bottom drain port inner plug.
@zeeduk11 ай бұрын
Had a top fill I just couldnt see it ..the wire harness right there was sagging hiding it lol thanks ... I have a quick ?...what does the wire plug on the drivers side behind the fender connect too? its the plug in thats connected to the harness next to the headlight...my missus took the ditch instead of a deer and smashed the bumper and bent the cross member which I replaced...lots of the plastics were damaged and I must of removed whatever that plug attaches too...the only thing that doesnt work is the high beams which I will work on tomorrow and im getting a check air bag message .. thanks again @@hardlymovingpro
@hardlymovingpro11 ай бұрын
Hard to say without seeing it. I'd guess it's a ABS line.
@zeeduk11 ай бұрын
@@hardlymovingpro yeah the ABS is a separate harness this connector comes off of the head light harness and goes into the area inside the fender...having a heck of a time finding any pics of that...thot maybe the other part to it was under the breather box but nothing under there.... in the brief pics I see of that area it looks like there should be a wire harness that goes from the windshield area down to it...the only thing thats not working are the high beams

So if the car shakes when accelerating.. I noticed @ 35-40mph and at 60-70 mph, that means the transmission fluid is low?

@kelpking448411 ай бұрын
Why what are you talking about
@tripleooo96392 жыл бұрын
wrong way of flushing the transmission. this is the exact reason why car companies dont put drain plugs on the transmission pans anymore so people have to drop them so they change the filter also. and what your doing is a waste of time and could cause pre mature transmission failure due to having a dirty transmission filter where fluid is not getting through the transmission even though the fluid is new and clean.
@hardlymovingpro2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing! That's the way we do it at the dealership but with a expensive machine. No customer complaints!
@GwinnettLawns2 жыл бұрын
It’s not flushing the transmission. Flushing the transmission requires running a chemical cleaner through it then removing the fluid and replacing it. What he did was a fluid exchange remove the old fluid replaced with new fluid. There’s no flushing that’s occurring at all. And this will in no way home the transmission.
