Chevy OBS 6 Lug Conversion Part 1
This video shows me converting a my Chevy OBS 5 x 5 Lug pattern to a 6 x 5.5 Lug pattern. Below are the links to the items I used.

Excellent video. I have read things here and there about the 6 lug conversion but your video made it crystal clear. Looks like some nice 5 lug wheels (IROC, American Racing Nova) are slowly becoming available but still no where near the 6 lug options.

Sweet! Am looking about grabbing an OBS but 5 lug is not an option for any of my preferred wheel selection so was struggling to find info on forums on the 6 lug swap besides the front brake conversion to 6 lug, but as it works out Dutchman is about 10 min from my house! Glad I found this.

Awesome video, I currently have wheel adapters to convert my 5 lug to 6 lug on my 1999 Chevy suburban 2wd 5.7L so that I can run factory 20” wheels…. After watching your video I ordered my axles from Dutchman MotorSports along with the bearings and seal so mine came out to $474 shipped. I’m also converting my rear drums to disk with a kit from Little Shop Manufacturing. I’m doing the front the same way you did, but I wouldn’t be doing any of this if it wasn’t for your video of how to do this the right way! Thanks Again!! 👍

Great job! But just a handy tip, stand the wheel up on a tilt and spray light coats, it helps keep the color right. I used similar wheels in mine but made them 2 tone. Poster board taped into a circle, shoved into the lip on the center of the wheel. I went red/black

Fyi for you guys considering doing this. The disc brake axle is 1/4 longer than the drum brake because of the rotor hat being taller than the drums width.

Yep I did look for one but I found out that they weigh more and are 2 inches longer on both ends that wasn’t gunna work for me .... my wheels needed to tuck under the wheel wells

I personally used a rear end from a 2002 Escalade,it’s about 2 inches longer but it does come with disc brakes which might be there reason why they turn out to be longer.this videos helped me to do the same 5-6 bolt conversion on my obs

Bro it will be cheaper if you replace entire differential and hubs i paid 350 for differential in Hubs differential from 4x4 and hubs nice job...

Yea it would be cheaper but those axles are longer and would work for my wheels I needed to tuck the rims under the wheel wells .... and thanks for the complement !

Yes it would be easier and much more expensive I looked in to it ..... I wanted the 6 lug cause there is so much 6 lug truck wheels that will fit now I’m not stuck with the same set ..... thanks for watching!

Yes it will I’ve been doing some research and u can put NBS rear disc are direct bolt on but u do need a spacer for 2wd and 4wd spacers are difficult sizes depending on your application

Those are a lil different but if you look on the website I believe they are SR#44 on the application chart it’s for the 88-91 1500 with 8.5 diff

All the measurements are in the video just pause the screen is the easiest way .... after you submit the order form they will call you the next business day and confirm what you need I might make a update video because the order form has changed and is not the same anymore

Hey buddy I think dutchman has eliminated the need for an order form/measurements. They have a thing on there website where you can find our bodystyle trucks and make a factory axle for our truck with 6 lug instead of 5.

I looked for a long time at all the junkyards around me Ontario,Riverside,San Bernardino,Fontana,Rialto, and even Pomona no luck 14 bolts are for new trucks and are longer I didn’t want that .... I’m down !

They are now discontinued but they came on all gm trucks and suvs 2000 - 2016 when transporting the from factory to dealerships that’s why they are called transport wheels

Yea I hate adapters get rid of them I did this to my truck because of the wheel selection sucks for the 5 on 5 bolt pattern I can run any wheels I want now and now I have no problems with the offset… thanks for watching

That would work too .... most of the 2500’s I found had a 8 lug pattern and where longer and much heavier.... I would have to find a 2500 2wd light duty for it to work and then it would be to long for my wheels .... thanks for the interest !

It’s about $600 in parts for the new axles, drums,brake shoes,wheel cylinders, axle seals, and gear oil the front was was about $340 with new rotors brake pads bearings seals and grease parts total it about $940 just in parts let me know if you want to get it done and we can talk about it

Yes you are correct it is basically a sr42 with 6x5.5 bolt pattern 14mm x 1.5 pitch studs. So Dutchman doesn’t have a sr# for this axle it is custom built when you order it a sales rep will call you to confirm your order all the measurements are the same as my truck thanks for watching 👍🏼

They are 22x9 6” back space 6 on 5.5 bolt pattern

They are gm transport wheels .... so when Chevrolet and GMC dealerships buy trucks from GM they used these wheels to ship the trucks to dealerships they didn’t want to scratch the new ones during transport.... but to my knowledge they no longer do this so they have become hard to come by .... thanks for the question !
