This helped me allot. Was the speedo ring pressed to the carrier? Mine is loose and I do not want to press in the new bearing if it is not going to hold the stator ring.

How do we fill fresh oil in it
@jasonsphar24 жыл бұрын
This is going to be tough to explain without being able to attach pictures. The manual transmission is filled the same way most manual transmissions are filled. Underneath the vehicle, on the drivers side of the transmission below the CV axle, there is a drain plug that a standard square 3/8 ratchet, or ratchet extension will fit inside. You can remove the drain pug and drain the oil. The plug to fill the transmission looks the same and is above the drain plug, and CV axle . To fill it, you will need an oil pump of some kind with a hose, (This is kind of tough to do without a lift) but make sure the vehicle is level, and with the drain plug installed, fill the transmission until transmission oil/fluid starts coming out of the filling hole. Once it starts coming out of the hole in a constant stream, pull the hose out and let the fluid drain until it starts to drip instead of a steady stream. Put the plug in, and your done. I guess since there isn't another video on KZbin on how to service the Manual Transmission on the Spark, I may have to make one.

How can I get one of these transmission
@CBM-k8d7 ай бұрын
Hello Sr., do you know when is necessary replace gear bearings? (in same manual transmission you are working in the video), They are not easy to find in Chile, symptoms: a lot of smashed metal in drain and filling magnet plugs and noisy manual transmission, three shaft bearings in bad conditions (I'm replacing all of them, 6 total), many thanks for your comments!!!
@jasonsphar27 ай бұрын
@user-kx6nz9qv9l I wish I knew the answer to your question, but I don't. Sorry about that. I replaced the main shaft bearings in this transmission only because I could hear a grinding noise that sounded like it was coming from the transmission. When I pulled it apart, I discovered the bearings were still in good condition. I replaced the main shaft bearings anyway while I had it apart. What the noise turned out to be was a passenger side wheel bearing that went bad. It didn't sound or feel bad when I checked it, but after I drove it a while longer, the grinding noise got louder, and I was able to feel it in the wheel when I checked it again. I wasted my time taking apart this transmission. My problem was actually a stupid wheel bearing.

Hi Jason. Thanks for the video, it helped me alot. Do you still have the original video footage? I have a problem with my gearbox and I have some parts that I don't know where they go. The Original video would help a lot, Thank you
@jasonsphar2 Жыл бұрын
Hi! I'm glad it helped. Unfortunately, this video was shot in time lapse mode on the camera, so this is the only video I have. If you live in the States, what I recommend is going to your local Chevy Dealer and ask the parts department to print the parts diagram of the area you need. It's not perfect, but the exploded parts diagram can help with what you're asking. I used to have the parts diagrams that my dealer printed for me, but I can't seem to find them. Good luck!

how hard would it be to replace a manual transmission in a spark to an auto
@jasonsphar24 жыл бұрын
I haven't done that conversion on this vehicle, but the typical items needed for such a conversion would be: An auto trans with wiring harness & shift cables, auto trans flywheel, torque converter, auto trans center console & shifter, trans cooling lines, radiator (if it doesn't have the transmission cooling line connections), the PCM out of an auto equipped car, or you will need to have the original PCM programed. I'm not sure if the original CV axles will work. You'd have to verify. It can be alot of work, but it's possible. It would be best to have a junk car available to salvage the parts needed. If I'm missing anything, please feel free to comment. In my opinion, the cost to convert a vehicle so that it looks like it came that way from the manufacture, wouldn't be worth the money. The cost of these vehicles used is fairly low. It would probably be more cost effective to just buy an auto equipped model to start with.

I've got a 2013 Chevy spark that the 5th gear is out of it it has 1st through 4th gear just not 5th how was it to replace the gears?
@jasonsphar24 жыл бұрын
Since my gears and syncros looked good and I couldn't find excesive play, I didnt pull the gear stack apart. So from an experience standpoint I can't help you on that one, sorry. I imagine if you have the proper tools to pull the trans down to the gear stack, you should be able to get the gears replaced. Just make sure you have the space to spread things out to keep things in order. Not having a manual sucks, but it helps if you can get the dealer to print off the part diagrams for you. I wish you luck my friend, and I'd love to hear how it goes for you.

hello! thanks for posting this! Mine has started eating left side cv shafts. i can wobble it quite a bit in the transaxle side making me think maybe a carrier bearing for the diff has gone bad. thoughts?
@jasonsphar2 Жыл бұрын
That sucks man. I haven't encountered that problem yet. I've heard of that happening from others, but I don't know for sure what the cause is. Hopefully somebody else that has encountered the dame thing can comment. This is the only Spark trans I've worked on. But it sounds like you're on the right track. When I had mine apart the carrier bearings looked worse than the rest, especially for as low of miles as it had. I opted to replace all the bearings. I still have a light growl, and after driving another 20,000 miles, the syncros are starting to feel stiff. I wish there was more info out there on the Spark Trans, and better parts availability. I have the feeling I'll be replacing the whole Trans within another 20,000.

It has growl like a bearing was going out. But after inspecting it, I couldn't find any bearing issues. The syncros all looked good, as well as the gears. I suspect its a gear mesh/alignment problem? The dealer won't sell me the trans repair manual, so I'm unable to verify tolerances. Any suggestions?
@killabbop5 жыл бұрын
@@jasonsphar2 I wish I had suggestions. Maybe the gears are wore all around so you can't tell? I absent mindedly jammed my Spark transmission in reverse (without the clutch) and it stalled out. No grinding or anything. Now there is a scratch/scrape sound when driving in reverse so I think I broke or chipped some teeth. It's in the shop now.
