I show the steps to replace the cabin air filter and I compare the ACDelco CF182 with the ACDelco Professional CF1182 filters to see which fits the best in my 2017 Chevy SS Sedan. This information applies to all of the Chevy SS model years 2014 to 2017.
The "normal" service schedule recommends to replace the cabin air filter every 22,500 miles or every 2 years whichever occurs first.
The footnote to the service schedule entry is that you may need to replace it more frequently depending on the environmental conditions you drive your Chevy SS in on a regular basis.

Thanks for the great information on the air filter part numbers. I have a 2017 model that I'm putting about 500 miles per month on over the last 15 months, so I'm not hitting many of the service points yet. But I do live in the Pacific Northwest in the rainy area, so I'm getting a lot of evergreen tree needles and seedlings all over my car on a nearly daily basis. Based on your video I'm going to check both the cabin air filter as well as the engine air filter. Thanks again.

Thanks for the upload. Good reference material. I will have to do this in the future. These cabin air filters to me should be much easier to change. Guess I should have been a car designer and I could then have my say so.

I recommend investing in a small, portable camera, maybe even a scope camera, so you can show you viewers what you're looking at. Thanks for the video.

I created this video over two years ago. My video camera options have improved since that point in time. I don't have a scope camera that produces anything close to watchable video. I do try to present still picture overlays of things not directly in view of the main camera in this video. I now have multiple cameras capturing video and I will use video from the various cameras as needed to help better illustrate the topic being discussed. I'm always learning and trying to improve! Thanks for watching the video.

hi. its easier to remove all 6 rivets/pins that hold this whole cowling piece on, pull the weather seal from the channel from that side and remove the whole piece. if you notice, thats why your cowling is 2 pieces, not 1. just bending it like that is not how it is designed to come apart. its actually faster as you dont have to fight your way under it

Good point. The Chevy SS has 7 pins and the Caprice PPV has 6 pins (split at a different spot). As long as the cowl piece comes out from the bottom side of the windshield and the plastic strip at the bottom of the windshield stays together, it can be easier.

@@RetroCarGuy530 Thanks so much! Since you have previously owned a 2015 SS I would love to ask you a few quick questions. Do all models have HID headlights? The exhaust on the 2015 compared to the 16/17 is it much different? I love the cracking/popping sound off of the 2015, so I'm wondering if the 2016/2017 is a lot crazier sounding? Do you know if you wanted a CD player in a 2016/2017 model could you buy a CD player from a 2014/2015 and put it into a 2016/2017? I am old school and prefer CDs it's not a deal breaker but it's nice to have :)

All 2014 to 2017 Chevy SS sedans have HID headlights. I love the HID headlights on the SS. The bi-modal exhaust on the 2016/2017 SS has two exhaust tips per side with a bi-modal valve in one of the two tips per side. I added Redtail tips to my 15 SS to fill up the opening in the rear diffuser. I prefer the sound of the 2016/2017 exhaust with the valve open (Sport / Perf suspension modes). I'm not sure about the CD player retrofit into the later model years. My guess would be no it wouldn't be possible or easy if possible. The radio head unit has so many interactions with other modules (On*Star VCIM module for one) that might make it difficult or require special software calibrations loaded to make it work. My suggestion would be get a year that has a CD player in it if you truly want that feature.

Cf1182 doesnt fit in the 2011-2013 chevy caprice ppv as well. I'm not sure about the newer ones but mine, def not. It bends just a little but doesnt fall all the way forward. But you here it hit the back when you turn the air on. But until the 182 arrives. 1182 will do over the original, which the police never changed

The CF1182 also doesn't fit in the 2014-2017 Chevy Caprice PPV. It just doesn't fit correctly in any of the vehicles it is stated to fit in. I've been purchasing the CF182 to get one that fits correctly.
