Did this same thing, had the cheap spider leak where the bottom of body was plastic welded to the top flat half, by the fuel lines, sprayed gas everywhere and filled cylinders!!! Crazy part is it started and I’m lucky it’s fine after going back to factory that night as my OEM one flow/function tested perfectly still at 220k. Buy once cry once my friends! Great video

Hey how does the white clip in the back of the injector plug go in?

It pushes into that release tab. The one on this vehicle had a broken piece on one side but I was still able to press into the release tab. It's just a safety connector.

I have a 1999 GMC Suburban and tried replacing the spider injecters with a cheap China made set. One injector failed and got my money back on it. Second set they sent me another injector failed plus the fuel regulator failed and feed fuel into the intake manafold causing a liquid compression in one piston. That took out my starter if you can believe it. Went back to my old injector set and now I'm getting engine shake in overdrive between 1000rpm to 1900rpm. About ready to junk this car. lol

Well it's a few day later, I decided it was to go for it, I took my time, watched yours and several other videos, I was nervous when I got done, when I turned on the ignition, I could hear the fuel pump turn on, then turned the key and it fired right up and was puring, hell yeah, took it the next day for emissions test, passed. Thanks Terrence for all the knowledge. Im working on a 5.7 express. I have some questions, i have crank but no start. Only starts with start fluid. Fuel pump kicks on, new battery, new distributor cap, new camshaft sensor, tested the fuel pressure filter but not leaking fuel through it. But i did have a cut wire on the evap purge solenoid, will that stop it from starting? Also i spilled alittle fuel into the port/hole near the spider when taking off the old fuel pressure regulator, but cleaned up with paper towels. Am i safe to try to start? Wish i had you contact info. Sorry for the long mesage.

Although the fuel pump is turning on doesn't mean it's functioning properly. I have had many cases where the fuel pump was to weak to start the vehicle despite it powering up. That wire on the evap solenoid would not stop the vehicle from starting. You will get an error code from it. Repair the cut wire. As far as the little fuel that dropped into the port, it's perfectly fine. The problem would be if the injector is not seated into the port correctly. That would potentially cause a fire if that were the case.

@TerenceDIY I got a fuel pump. I'm gonna start there, but only issue I can't drop the tank it's full. I'm probably gonna cut through the floor with a reciprocating saw. I do have pressure on vavle stem but not high pressure, just enough to flow. Would the spider injectors not allow to start also? I'm just curious to diagnose.

The injectors will not allow it to start if the fuses were blown . If you were to start it with starter fluid, it will not run because the injectors would not be squirting. You said it runs once you use starter fluid correct? And it does not turn off unless you turn the ignition off correct?

@TerenceDIY it only starts with starter fluid but only stays on with starter fluid. Otherwise, it dies. I'm starting to think now that it's the rotor cap after watching another video. I replaced only the distributor cap, not the rotor cap, and my rotor cap is/was pretty corroded with blue.

I am pretty sure it's NOT the rotor cap. If the rotor cap was not generating a spark, the car would not start when you use starter fluid. It sounds like your fuel pump is faulty.

Lol. Use your finger and some motor oil and oil the intake housing really good (where the spider seats). It should seat fairly easily with a little finessing. Thank you SO much for watching.

Did you have any trouble installing the MFI? I couldn't get the intake manifold to sit down fully because the MFI injectors were not allowing me to push it all the way down so I had to return it and get the OEM part. Hopefully it sits down better just wanted to know if you had any trouble making the intake manifold sit down correctly because of the MFI injectors

Sorry for the late response, yes, I had problems with the MFI. The injectors would not seat properly into the ports. I ordered an OEM one as well.

Nice video Terrance. I'm debating if I'm going to try and tackle this same job. I've had my 99 GMC yukon 5.7L parked for awhile and I think the injectors are clogged up. I got pressure at fuel rail but won't start when cranking. Installed New fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel pressure sensor on top of gas tank, but still no start. If you were someone close, I'd let you change it out bruh. lol. Good Job 👍🏾

@@TerenceDIY I wonder if a good scan tool will show it's the injectors? I can spray starter fluid and she will run for a second and cut off. But before I parked it, I let a shop change my intake gaskets but when I left it was putting and sputtering which it hadn't done. Anyways, I was first thinking my timing was off, but I guess that could be the case and injectors too. What's your thoughts? I guess a timing issue can cause a vehicle not to start but it runs a little when I spary the starting fluid.

@@qj5299 , if it was slightly out of time, it still would run, but crappy. A cheap scan tool will not show you if the injectors are bad in that vehicle. However, you may can check the fuel trim using a cheap scanner. It's interesting you said a shop changed the intake gasket. That may be your problem. If that intake was install improperly (not seated, a wire or something between the intake and the engine) you will get the EXACT symptoms that you are getting. I've seen it done a few times.

No space whatsoever unless you see the gasket. That's it. They have to mate perfectly otherwise you will have a nasty vacuum leak.

Yeah, you gotta kinda play with it to seat down properly. Just make sure everything is clean and nothing is obstructing you or in the way when you go to set it in place.

I just changed my injectors in my 99 k1500 5.7. I bought that cheap conversion set and they leaked like a siv. I had to buy the GM oem original. $797.00.

@Mary Katelen King I ended going to Orielys autyo parts and buying a brand that was not GM oem but the premium brand Orielys sells they are $365.00 the OEM/GM injectors are $441.00 when they installed the first set the number 3 injector wouldn't push any fuel through, the second set checked out fine. I can't remember the brand name, but it was a simple name to remember. I checked the company out and there were no complaints of that product it seemed the reliability was real good too

Hi! How do you remove the nozzles of a new spider from the holes, just pulling by brute force? I can't get it out, I'm afraid of breaking the plastic clips.

You have to pull them out with force. Maybe use some channellocks. I wouldn't be surprised if someone glued them in.

@@TerenceDIY No one glued it, it's a new spider from Aliexpress. I installed it, but the pressure regulator is faulty, I want to return it to the Chinese, and I'm afraid to break it when disassembling. There is very little space in the holes to release the latches on the nozzles.

@@АндрейРбц-е6ф , oh, okay. Those cheap spiders are terrible. Spray a little lubricant around the base of those nozzles and try to slowly twist them back and forth until the release from those ports.

I put the same new upgraded spider injectors in my 2001 Astro van and have a P0300 misfire code that no one can diagnose the problem with. I have had several mechanics look at it and none of them can find the problem. I have replaced them twice with rock auto parts. I wonder 🤔🤔🤔

So you have the upgraded spider injectors installed currently? If so, that may be your problem. Those injector nozzles does not fit well into the intake without some alteration. The best spider to use is the old style. There's a listing online for one that is refurbished. I've bought 3 of them from the seller. Also, does the vehicle misfire or is your just getting the code?

I'm going to keep you updated. I should have the part this week. The old ones were from standard products. Replaced twice.

@@quintonsales2232 , spray a little wd-40 or any kind of penetrant around the ports where the injectors insert and then twist and pull on them with some small needle nose pliers. Be gentle.

The new ones are a bad design. You can use some channel locks and twist them as you slowly pull them out of he ports. I hate those aftermarket ones. I have had many issues with them. I only buy the original. Here is the link for it (below). @TerenceDIY hey man jus changed the injectors out once again rode one week and dead again now gas jus spraying out the tail pipe any suggestions I no these parts ain't this faulty man I'm getting tired

I actually noticed on the first install you didnt pushe the injectors all the way down into the hole. they are supposed to go down until the white plastic covers cant be seen any longer. however i am doing one right now and the plastic is too big for the holes. no matter how hard i push even with some grease on the plastic they will not seat. i am forced to lightly dremel out each individual port until the plastic fits down inside. so just an fyi,..if you watch your video you will see they are not seated,..therefore fuel will run back up into the manifold

You are absolutely correct, they didn't seat well, but I know how to make them seat perfectly (lightly sand down the plastic tips that covers the injectors). I eventually went back with an OEM spider (the best option). I have had many issues with the newer spider injectors and they were seated properly (throttle response, erratic idling, etc...). I went through the same thing got 98 sierra k1500 put updated Delphi mpfi from rockauto done good couple days started runnin bad took upper plenum off hooked gas line an electronics back up leaking out of new injectors close to the plug end at the white tubes on couple I cleaned old put it back in done good till I got one from advance ,I guess what happens when you buy 450 part for 250 dollars lesson well learned an rockauto did give me refund not bought nothin else from them
