I started my own car lot. MikesCarStore.com is my new home. I left Bachman Chevrolet on GREAT terms. As expressed in the video my love towards the Bachman family is unmeasurable. They support me, they want to see me successful and they will be there for me when I need help.

Sorry to hear that Mike. I worked for Napleton Cadillac for 37 years in the Body & Paint shop. I was one of there best employees. I completed every training class to become a Master Technician. I decided to retire March ,3rd of this year. The owner just broke off contact with me . I didn't even get a thank you card for all of the work I had done. The car business isn't what it was from years ago. I am not mad at them just very disappointed I guess. I can tell you this if I win any big money threw a lottery. I would like to be one of your investors. Why? Because I believe in you & your wife. You guys are going to be successful. I know it. Signed, John Gregory A.K.A. ( Dr.Olds) from Munster Indiana.

Unfortunately it’s not just the care business. I have worked in a factory for almost 20 years and the appreciation you get from the company is little to none and it really showed during the pandemic and holidays. For example thanksgiving has come and gone and back in the day we would have got a turkey. This year nothing, not even a card. We’re all just a number and the best thing to do if you have the funds and are good at something then be your own boss.

Trust me when I tell you this. Being on your own is the best thing that happened to you. 6 years ago I was in the same position that you are currently in, I was let go after 10 years because the owner thought that my little side business was a conflict of interest. Once I dedicated 100% of my time to my business I started outperforming my former employer. Never in my wildest dreams did I think my business would be this successful. I knew I was capable of doing it but I was afraid to leave the safety net of my former job. It wasn’t easy but as long as you are willing to put in the work, you will be successful. With that being said, congrats on getting fired 🥂 🍾 🍻 Welcome to the self employed club.

As a fellow business owner, the first thought that comes to mind is for you to keep that relationship alive with Bachman Chevrolet. I don't know enough about the used car market and whatnot, but I'd be curious to see if Bachman would give you "first dibs" in a sense, behind the scenes, at purchasing their used trade-ins that they get through their dealership. I know that those vehicles are usually sent off to auction by the dealers when that occurs, but if you could get in ahead of that or have first pick on what you'd want on your lot, that could potentially be a mutually beneficial scenario. That way you've moved on to not necessarily be a competitor in the dealer space, but you're now a partnering vendor of theirs. And for those customers that you might not be able to seal the deal with, that might really just want/need a brand new vehicle, you could refer them to Bachman in those cases to kind of throw them a bone every so often, where they walk into Bachman and say "Mike sent me".
@josephvance8900

Actually new car dealerships usually sell their trade in cars to wholesalers. They usually have a handful of them and those are the guys that own those small buy here/pay here lots. Unless the trade in is nice enough to keep and sell on their used car lot. So I bet he ends up buying some trade ins.

Ha that didn't take long. You should have seen it coming. No dealership will allow you to start a car business and be in competition with them. What would prevent you from trying to making a deal at the Chevy dealership only to tell the customer you could make them a better deal at your lot.... nothing. I've seen it happen before and when the dealership finds out you're outta there. I imagine you're wrap will be coming off now. You're no longer the Chevy dude.

@@dgripper05 Yes, you're right...and I wasn't getting what "mixflip" was alluding to in his comment. Meaning, I wasn't recalling THAT negative aspect of KZbin's (Y-T) policy and also yes, that sure WOULD make it difficult for someone to start a Y-T channel on ANYTHING related to Guns & Ammo and make a successful/paying business out of it as it'd not be fitting a liberal agenda/narrative ("guns are bad, therefore so are people who have them," etc.) I was just focused on the topic/content itself...forgot Y-T would be AGAINST such a channel (ban or de-monetize, etc.)! Thanks for bringing up that point of bias... BTW, I HAVE wondered how some other "right/conservative" Y-T channels (be it about guns, ammo or just conservative viewpoints) have not been closed-down/banned already across the board on Y-T...maybe they will be at some point. Sad...but then Free Speech -- just like Truth (!) -- is pretty much being banned in America anyway... -- BR

Hardest market? I have sold every piece of crap I had laying around for serious money when prices shot through the roof. This is a crazy sellers market.

@@fauxque5057 no shit, key word in your comment: “sellers market” so good luck trying to get new inventory. Being an independent dealer your choices are buy wholesale from a dealer you have a relationship with that will actually sell you trade in’s (good luck with that as no one is giving up anything in this market, because everything sells as you said yourself) or go to the auction and pay over retail just to get inventory that you won’t be able to make anything on..... so like I said, brave move in this market 😳

@@jameswillard1 A big factor that also has to be considered...leaving a GM/Chevy store right now makes it less risky. They are the hardest hit in all of this mess and will be for a long time. I know Retail/Fleet Chevy guys doing only 5-10% of their normal numbers, been that way for a while. Good luck!

@@Jhuntermorgan1516 this is true. I would think repeat business combined with the Vette business would keep him doing fairly well, even if he delivered 3-4 C8’s a month (which I’d think is easily doable for him) that’s a few grand per car for him right there and I’d be willing to be he does more than that

@@jameswillard1 Yes but im sure he isnt doing that many right now. Its hard in the auto world. I sell fleet and commercial for 19 dealership group. Chevy is beyond impossible to get sustained inventory and sold orders are counting against allocation. Im turning away long time clients. Also id be shocked if he didnt have a plan in place for inventory supply on used side.

Congratulations on the big move. I know how you must be feeling. I am an appliance repair technician and have been for 28 years. I worked for someone for 25 years and always had the thought of starting my own business. I finally made the move 3 years ago and as scary as it was, it was one of the best decisions of my life. My old employer became like family to me. I watched his kids grow up and become adults. I felt like a friend to him as much as an employee. But I knew I needed to ultimately do what was best for me. Without any “side hustle” like KZbin, I made the leap and started my own company. Now after 3 years, I’m doing better financially than I ever have. Been and my quality of life has improved 10 fold. I say all of this only to let you know that yes it’s scary but it is worth every bit of it. If you are good at what you do and you love what you do you will achieve greatness. I know you will be successful in your endeavors. Best of luck and I hope that our paths cross someday. Maybe we will both end up in Florida some day.

I wonder if things would have gone differently if they were part of the discussion when you began the process of opening a dealership. You have been a great brand ambassador for Bachman Chevrolet, I think if they could have made it work they would have. At the end of the day you made plans without them and you put them in a tough position. I know leaving abruptly wasn't part of the plan, I'm sure it will light a fire in you to get this off the ground quickly. Good luck Mike! It's not going to be easy, but you'll look back a few years from now and know it was necessary to achieve your goals.

When you tell the truth on crooks, the crooks get their revenge. Like we all know why they fired you, at least in my personal opinion. You cannot be honest as a Car Salesman, because eventually the dealer finds out and they don't want you anymore. All my personal opinion.
