Great video!!!! Your collection of coleus looks fantastic. You certainly have a huge variety in your containers. I'm truly impressed. It is hard to pick a favorite.

Jim. If Vincent Van Gogh painted coleus they would not look as nice as yours. 👍👍

I have a King Kong. Coleus. It popped out big and beautiful. I do have a rooting from a stem that broke during a storm. Beautiful plant

Perhaps one of the most rewarding parts of growing Coleus....the ability to take a stem and clone another plant...VERY EASILY!!

Beautiful, Jim! 😁 Ok just off the top of my head “Whimsy Wizard”, “Wizard of Whimsy”, “Fancy Wizard”, “Wizard of Enchantment”, “Hot Pink Wonder Wizard”. ❤️ Whatever you call it, I love it and I want it. 😂 Very strong wind here too Jim. Today it actually blew one of my plants right off the window sill! 😮

Hi Jim. It got so gusty here today in Union county NJ and it blew my tomato plants so hard that it pulled up the stakes! I've never seen a windy day like this in the 45 years I live here. Maybe during a hurricane but not on a sunny day. Needless to say, I was out there for hours like a maniac resetting big potted plants that kept blowing over. I put in bricks to hold them down but still kept blowing over. Plus, everything was drying out so fast that it kept me busy watering every 3 hours. And i had neglected to get my tomato vines tied all the way up the stakes so quickly tried to do that right after giving everything it's first drink. What a crazy day. I am tired.

Hi Pat. Last night I was working down southern Ocean County GSP... Ive never seen such persistent sustained cloud to cloud & cloud to ground Lightning 🌩!!! It was like daylight....then the Downpours. Had some serious accidents. After I finished this video I placed my Pots under the table and closed the Greenhouse door. We has gusts but I think you got the brunt of it as it hadn't been in the 90's here... mid 80's with a cool ocean breeze. Take it easy tomorrow. You AND the plants will need water no doubt.!!

Your Coleus are stunning! Thank you for a great info I would like to try growing it from cuttings as I don't have luck growing from seeds.
@Jimswholiestofcoleus4 ай бұрын
Thank you. Not everyone wants to nor has the time , skill or equipment necessary to start seeds. And because Coleus root so easily you can enjoy a Quickie new plant with just a snip off a larger plant. It's actually how I got started in Coleus....by snipping a few Coleus I saw at a park ....wet Rooting and growing them.

Hi, I started growing Coleus this year. Surprisingly, they grow so well under full sun, and I am in Africa. Over the months I noticed that they started having offspring in places where i least expected without me doing anything ( i grow directly in the ground). I have some questions; have you noticed any difference in growing from seeds or cutting? What's the longevity over the 10yrs you have grown them? When old and dying do i have to uproot the dead plant to give way for the others? Thank you

First of All... Hello from the United States of America 🇺🇸!!! Thank you for watching & for !! And absolutely taking the time to comment. In non Winter zones such as most in the Continent of Africa... Coleus are Perennial... they do this by reseeding themselves...dropping seeds which will germinate below or in the vicinity... As for any difference between a Coleus you plant by seed and a " store bought " grown coleus... Of course... the store bought coleus most often from a Coleus Grower which perhaps was from a well hardened stock. Then Seeds you may harvest from THAT SPICIFIC COLEUS may be subject to environmental alterations , cross pollination , genetic defects. Large Coleus growers may grow hundreds or perhaps thousands of Coleus then thru Hardening ween out the weakest and keep the strongest which will be what we call the " Cream of the Crop". With that said....Do NOT allow that to Rob you of the Joy I get of growing Coleus from Seed and seeing these alterations in color or pattern etc. GREAT QUESTION 👍 👌
