The amount of times I’ve brainstormed ideas on how to get out when being a white belt is insane. I’ve always thought of it as the hardest thing to get out of, besides something like an armbar.

I’m a white belt and every time I watch some of these videos I get excited to try it out on the mat but when it comes time to actually doing it I forget what I’m supposed to do because I’m trying to defend against the guy on the ground. It gets puzzling but I’m loving it so far, makes you think and challenge yourself and forces to want to climb that wall.

Hi Chewjitsu. I impressed my instructor yesterday by using this guard brake. Being in training for so far 3 weeks and always getting owned it's nice to see progress as I am starting to give higher ranks a hard time when rolling (when I say higher ranks I mean higher white belts as anything above still owns me like I'm not even trying). Thank you for explaining things step by step.

Great basics video. Love the videos and the coaching you provide. On a side note contrasting colors of the gi you and Adam wear would help the viewers see the positioning details a little better. Both of you in black kind of melt together making it difficult to see positioning.

#1 Guard pass...good stuff! Also got to watch that arm and make sure you don't get in a arm bar when breaking the guard. Make sure your elbow is inside and even connect back to your hip if you can. I can't count how many times I got caught in a arm bar from doing that move.

Is it the hand on the hip or overall pressure that keeps them from basically moving their hips or tailbone off your knee eachtime? I always end up "chasing" their tailbone around trying to get the proper position. And vice versa, its my go to for avoiding the escape is shifting my hips to the side to keep their knee off my tailbone. Any input their? Great videos! One of my favorite content providers. Thank you for all the free knowledge you pass on.

As someone who's fairly new to bjj but who's been training other martial arts for a while, I don't get why bjj coaches don't highlight these fundamentals I have two bjj coaches, I've been with one of them for a while and always struggle with this technique making all the mistakes Chew mentions and I've never been corrected by either. Is this a BJJ culture thing?

I'm a white belt and this absolutely is the biggest problem I have. The upper belts just grab my giu and don't let go, or if I break guard and get to my feet I'm stuck.

Hey chewie, I’m new to BJJ and have been training no-go for a couple months now. I feel like in order to progress through the belts I need to be training in the gi. Do you agree or do you think I can see the same belt progression by training solely in no-gi?

I was with my friends and I wrestled/rolled with one of them. I have slightly more knowledge than him about ground fighting because of my older brother showing me a few things while my opponent knows nothing. But he was super aggressive, and I couldn’t hold my chokes on him, or get into a good position to win. How do I overcome someone with a high level of aggressiveness?
@robertocurry1386
@robertocurry1386 3 жыл бұрын
Best thing to do with aggressive untrained ppl is to let them tire themselves out. If you were on the bottom I recommend staying calm and patient while putting a lot of of pressure on his neck. 1: he can't do too much damage while having his neck held 2: using your neck to fight against pressure is extremely tiresome. Hope this helps
