What’s The Difference Between Anaconda, Darce & Brabo Chokes ?

In today's BJJ technique video I show some basic details about the Anaconda Choke, Darce Choke and Brabo Choke. Mainly the differences of what they are, what they look like, how they work and some ideas on how to set them up in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu rolling or competing.
The question comes from one of our viewers who's curious about all 3 of them and the differences to them.
So hopefully if you're newer to BJJ this will help you understand which chokes are which.
Again, keep in mind this is a brief run down of them. All three of these submissions are complex options with lots of setups in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. So if you have more specific questions feel free to ask in the comments.
Thanks for watching the video.

The Darce feeds under the armpit first and then around the neck; where the anaconda feeds around the neck first and then out the armpit.

Hey bro! Amazing content as always. I have a question. Many black belts and color belts suggest that only people with good knowledge can teach. I’m a white belt, been training for a year almost and I have non jiujitsu friends that are interested in learning. We roll in my house but they won’t be comfortable to go to a gym. Many upper belts said that people would think that they teaching but they are harming by doing it wrong. What are you thoughts on that? I wish they would be down to go to a gym but they won’t.

Could you talk about getting a Ezekiel choke from Mount and or guard? I can't get my top hand to go underneath the neck most of the time and even when they don't defend it I can't really get in in there ya know!?
@ThievesInTheTreasureRoom
@ThievesInTheTreasureRoom 3 жыл бұрын
I hit it all the time in the mount but getting it from the guard, while possible, is very difficult. You'll have a hard time getting the choking arm underneath the chin and across the throat while also wrapping your locking around the back of their neck because unless they're noobs most people will see it coming a mile away.
@genises200
@genises200 3 жыл бұрын
@@ThievesInTheTreasureRoom I only started doing it because this Blue belt was able to get almost everyone with it. White,blue,purple, and even a brown belt...once. that was the dudes signature move and he made it look so easy. Though when I was coming in jujitsu he moved to another state.
@ThievesInTheTreasureRoom
@ThievesInTheTreasureRoom 3 жыл бұрын
@@genises200 LOL Yea, I'm sure there's a handful of people out there that can make it work. And I'll bet every single one of the guys he tapped with it were wondering how the hell they got caught in it. I think you'll find that most guys you ask will tell you the same thing- works in theory, but very hard to pull off.
@genises200
@genises200 3 жыл бұрын
@@ThievesInTheTreasureRoom yeah I wish I could have asked him how he got it! He made it look so easy! Some people are really good at everything but there some that have a move that they know well in and out they can catch you eventually. People like that are awesome because they help you with common mistakes you will face in the future and you skip that big time process

Gotta use your head to turn their head away from your choking hand. Opens up the neck and can't see what your doing. Also, once you grab your own sleeve, pull your arm back, inside your gi, so your gi is basically covering your hand. This gives you more slack and much much easier to circle your hand into position for the choke.

Hey man, Love the videos. I’m about almost to a month I’ve been to about a dozen classes at my BJJ gym, And I’ll be 39 in July.The professors are great most of the other belts are awesome. I am very eager to learn And they are very open to teaching me.I have come across some dudes at my gym upper belts like purples with some stripes and a white belts with one or two stripes that it seems to be there’s no half speed. Even when professor says flow roll and warm up this dude thinks that he’s trying to smash me because I feel him trying to work something and I am not offering as much resistance because we’re supposed to be warming up. I guess my question is what do I do as a Brand new white belt that is eager to learn but also doesn’t want to get hurt by somebody who thinks every role is a competition?

At higher level anaconda just doesn't seem to be common at all. I haven't pulled a single anaconda or recognized situation for it in years. Darce, however, I can find in all sorts of situations. And it's even more viable because you can switch to japanese necktie, if darce doesn't work.

I'd say because you see a lot more wrestlers who transition to mma and pick up striking. So for them a lot like to either strike or get to a better striking position and use control to maintain positions. Versus going for a sub and potentially burning out your arms, all thr while judged would rather see some GnP versus a sub attempt from what we see. Just what I've noticed.
