I think the reason why the scale is not shown like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, because till date Bhansali showed the palaces and Mahals suited for Rajput Kings and. For Peshwas for that matter. But at the time of Sambhaji Maharaj, there were no big palaces built. There were only forts which were made by stones and mahals made with woods. Maximum luxury they could show was Shamianas only. May be that could be the reason

the hate for pushpa 2 among hardcore bollywood fans is insane. 2000 cr soon. cry more. you can't see people loving a movie and enjoy with their families. calling a movie third class based upon where its backdrop set on is such a shameful thing. an emotionless trailer of chhaava has to depend on downgrading other successful films. calling a movie a 3rd class film isn't criticism buddy. no one is calling out the genuine problems they have with movie or its aspects. everyone is calling it a low class film just cause its a movie on a person who doesn't fit 'their' expectations of how a 'sophisticated' person should be. If movie was underwhelming, then people would have called ot out, but the hate for this particular movie started before its release. No one is even talking how beautifully sukumar extracted emotions, gorgeously designed jathara sequence, adrenaline filled climax and beautiful family drama. No one is talking about symbolisms in the movie. These are no one but pretentious cinephile or poor intellectuals. These are the same people who were going gaga over jawan and pathaan, which comes nowhere near a brilliantly made, shot and executed pushpa 2.

Do read about Dr. Amol Kolhe, who came with the title role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in a grand Marathi serial Raja Shivchhatrapati in 2009. You would get pumped up listening to its title track by Ajay Atul. In 2017, he came with Swarajya Rakshak Sambhaji, playing Sambhaji Maharaj himself, again a grand Marathi serial. His contribution has been immense in instilling the belief in us that the story of Chha. Sambhaji Maharaj wasn’t a story of a defeat, rather it was about Courage and how his Balidan was crucial in the history. Both of his portrayals have garnered huge recognition and respect in Maharashtra.

During the later half of the series, Amol Kolhe left Shivsena and joined NCP Sharad Pawar and the serials climax also reflected the NCP ideology of appeasement, the show ended with very mellowed down sequences in a hurried manner, especially no torture sequences shown at all.

As a Maharashtrian who's read about, heard stories of and watched movies about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj since childhood, I think Vicky 's portrayal is on point. He gives us everything that we associate with Sambhaji Raje. Passion, aggression, love for our soil and our Shivaji Maharaj, love for our religion. Everything. I first thought they should have picked a Marathi actor to play the part but Vicky changed my opinion. Just one drawback I found is that Vicky seems to have missed getting our Marathi accent right. Let's see. Excited for this one. *छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराज की जय!!* *जय भवानी जय शिवाजी!!*

Absolutely! I remember reading the Amar Chitra Katha about Sambhaji as a kid and for me, he was more cerebral and his story, was simpler but more impactful. Seems much closer to the reality and what you are saying about the ideology of Shivaji Maharaj than this hyper masculine, aggression filled movie. Sambhaji Raje's story inspired me. Chhaava trailer disappointed me and even made me cringe in parts. Why don't they show the Maratha rulers for the very intelligent, democratic, mostly secular and amazing strategists they were? The Maratha regime under the legacy of these kings were one of the few to actually integrate and coexist with the culture of the people they invaded. Like the Pallavas. That trait, flexibility and soft affects have to be respected. Being gentle and showing tolerance is not a weakness Only the war aspect is shown here and their personality itself is reduced to that range of only hard facets. That is very sad. Liked the costumes though. That's all.

regarding the grandeur of the sets..... it is worth considering that Shivaji and Sambhaji weren't kings with a rich lineage. They became kings... out of the commoners (hence the name - rayatecha raja). And for them to establish their presence, they mostly had forts as their abode, not palaces. Comparing it with the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's movies which showcased the opulence of Rajputs or Peshwas of an already established Maratha empire would be unfair. I may be wrong but I do feel the sets actually do justice to the story.

Sambhaji raje was scholar too , they need to highlight it too. He could converse in 13 languages and written multiple granths like budbhushan in sanskrit himself. That is why people might have shown gripe. Everyone in maharashtra have watched his story in 772 episodes in extruating detail. No film can do full justice and people should be happy that amarathi audience might get inspired to read up on that history rather than cribbing about it.

@dhimankalita1690, if you don’t like it, then just don’t watch Indian movies. India is known for its joy and celebration during festivals and functions. If something good happens in our country or homes, we celebrate-it’s in our culture. You can’t write a song or screenplay , so stop acting like you know better. Maine pehle bhi bola, agar Shaktimaan banti hai toh Vicky Kaushal ko lena chahiye because he can justify both Shaktimaan and Gangadhar characters. Really feel bad when his movies like Uddham Singh and Sam Bahadur doesn't reach the much needed success. Do badi filme jo shelve bhi ho gayi Takht aur Immortal Ashwathama which would have really added to his career graph and not movies like Bad Newz. For any cinema actor the rule one or the first thing that they have to understand is pitch of the film, that one crucial step speaks how your perfomance will turn out!! In my opinion one of such actor who has mastered that is vicky kaushal. Its very rare to see an actor be so good at transitioning from subtle supporting role to then turn into an absolute beast giving your entire persona and adapt into something much more larger than your life. Vicky in masaan and vicky in Chaava are great examples for that and not just that he is the only indian actor i have seen who does complete voice modulation for example sam bahadur.

If there is rage and complaints about Vicky's pitch of acting, it is due to lack of understanding of Ch. Sambhaji's personality (as Jammy pointed out) . One thing is for SURE, Vicky will never go wrong with the 'pitch' of the character he is playing. However, I am apprhensive regarding the treatment of action and choreography which may stick out like a thorn in a rather great movie.

Hello sir, I want your attention here. Please address this. Most of the Indian audience apart from Maharashtrians and also the reactors outside of India are complaining about the Chhava trailer, the loudness of Vicky's character ( some are calling overacting ) and complaining over small sets, grounded vs massey feel. So, i want you to make a video to address this. Non-maharashtrians and also north indians who hate bollywood will not give this movie a good credit as they always try to find any excuse to criticize. This will surely affect the reach of the movie. As people do not know the real history and greatness of him which actually looks like fictional, they will surely judge this movie like other movies. And if this happens, no one will try to make such movies on real history again. We saw this with Sardar Udham. Such a class movie, but 0.1% people watched the movie. This movie will atleast give some confidence to make more of such kind of movies. 1st of all, Why there is loudness in Chh. Sambhaji Maharaj's character. Is Vicky really overacting? No, if you get to know about the cruelty, brutality of Aurangzeb, what he did with our motherland, destroying everything in his path, be it temples or farm lands or ordinary people, craftsmans etc, and on the other hand, there is Chh. Sambhaji Raje who was very determined to get the freedom. And the situation was like literally handful of Maratha warriors VS Lacs of Mughal Army. With such anger against the Mughal empire, What can u expect from him? What will be his reaction? That's the reason he is called as 'Chhava' ( Lion's cub ). 2nd, sets are small.. Seriously ?? Did people who are complaining even visited the Maharashtrian forts?? They are not like grand Rajasthani forts with variety of stones and designs. They are made of simple black basalt rock and wooden roofs. So its imp to Know the history 1st before giving their opinion. 3rd, why bollywood always wants hero to dance? Raje is not dancing. He is playing a Lezim. Its one of the folk dance of Maharashtra. And it performs only on festivals if you ever know Maharashtrian culture. And it is ancient act, not the modern one. Some scenes are massey? Do you ever heard of Guerilla warfare? And how much Marathas were expert in this technique? Water uplifting scene is too much? understand the science behind it. Ever heard of buoyancy effect? In water, you can lift the double of the weight compared to land. Eg. If you can lift 50kg of stone on land, you can lift around 100kg of rock in water. So what if there are another people below them under water who are helping and pushing to uplift them in air from the water? Cleanliness of cloths? Rather than historical accuracy? Indian Textile industry is approx 3000 years old. (Might be older than that) This is 17th century's story. The fine Silk, Muslin cloths were widely available at that period. The art of zari (gold and silver threads) and intricate designs flourished during this medieval period. Also Paithani Saree, a very classy maharashtrian Saree was also there since 2000 years. There is another type called Chintz (printed cotton fabric with intricate floral designs) originated in India and became a global favorite in that era. And also there were cloths with Mughal influence. There is an original photo of Shivaji Raje available on google. See how well dressed he is. And As he is The King, what would you expect him to wear, not fine cloths? At that time, Paithani silk might be used to make the clothes. I know you meant that the texture of the cloths they used in movie seems very shiny as they made out of machinery and not on handloom. See, 1st of all the Director is Marathi. He never made this grand scale movie before, so believing his vision might be tough for producers, so no one wants to give a lot of money to produce the film. The film is made only in 100 Cr., not spent 800-900 Crs like Bahubali, RRR, KGF. So keeping this in mind + some budget for the sets and vfx, they might have some restrictions. And hand woven clothes are very expensive. If you look closely in trailer, They gave fine cloths to the extras also. I think they might not fit the hand woven clothes in their budget. Lastly, if you will learn how much Chh. Sambhaji Raje fought in his short life span, how scholar he was, and then you watch the trailer, you will realise they showed nothing in the trailer. People will appreciate and uplift the fictional stories like KGF and Salaar etc. But they'll always criticise the real worriors. And obviously its not their fault, its their fault that they are uneducated about the subject.

Indian movies are evolved from nataks, and natyasastra was evolved from ancient stories, legends, religious scriptures etc. in which characters/people used to express their happiness, sadness, grief, excitement, love etc. mostly through poetry and songs, hence songs became a medium to enhance emotions in movies but nowadays(since 80s-90s) songs are made for commercial purposes, without adding anything to the story or character development. Maybe that's why it feels forced.

After trying almost for 27 long years Aurangzeb never could overcome the Marathas. He started by trying to capture a small fort at Ramsej but his 10000 men could not defeat 600 Mavals. He tried his hand at Chakan and kept trying at almost 13 other forts simultaneously but could not overcome the Marathas. Finally in 1689 he captured Sambhaji Maharaj by bribing certain Maratha chieftains. He made him sit on a camel dressed with a needle gown. He was asked to convert to Islam but he refused Aurangjeb. Enraged by this Aurangzeb ordered hot rods to be inserted his eyes , his tongue was cut and nails pulled out. For 40 days he sustained. He continued breathing through that 40 days for his people. Finally on the eve of Gudi Padwa his head was cut and was hung at the confluence of Bhima and Indrayani rivers. But we studied? The great Aurungjeb. Thanks to Indian national congress.

Only 2 skepticism are Maharani Yesubai played Rashika felt bland and she was later crowned queen but here looks more like typical bollywood love intrest and another thing Vicky Dancing as Maratha Kings were no nonsense about such things. Also Jammy the thing about Granduer is Maratha Empire was never about Flexing and doing leisure activities until they started ruling entire India (Till time of Shahu Maharaj and Peshwas) So small scale suits here as it is far more accurate than jist showing scle for the sake. From the trailer Vicky's potrayal does seem very accurate. How can anyone say otherwise ? Look at his eyes. Its almost as if he is possessed. The loudness during battle and prep scenes is required, that is how fierce the Maratha kings were. Chhatrapati Sambhaji especially so. He was a scholar, a poet and at the same time a fierce fierce warrior. His physicality as well has been defined the same way. Even when he died (I am not sure if they will even be able to show half the brutality of the torture ), his fierce exchanges with his torturers are well known and documented. Vicky seems to have nailed it. Screw the haters.

Just saw the trailer not bad but the harsh tones of Vicky Kaushal’s dialogue is jarring because it’s clashing with the BGM and appears loud, the dialogue delivery is too fast and not nuanced.

As a maharashtrian, I understand the sentiment of people who worship chatrapati sambhaji. His work and life story has been portrayed beautifully on marathi TV, films and plays. Vicky and producers had a huge task at hand. I hope their version works and won't hurt people.

It's correct grammar. The sentence means that he refused to abandon his faith, i.e. the Hindu faith, for Islam, as in for accepting Islam. He refused to let go of the Hindu faith, refused to go 'for Islam'.

Did you mean "refuse to abandon his faith for Hindutva". Thats kne of the main reason whybhe was tortured and killed. What the makers also seem to have missed that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharahaj had called for Hindavi Swaraj, where as in the trailer Vicky Kaushal just says Swaraj. This doesnt seem to be casual mistake. I hope the makers make it up for this in the movie. As for Vicky, He seems to have nailed it. I woukd have preferred an actress like Sai Manjarekar doing this role.

I don't think so that I will be satisfied from the trailer. Common ppl , it's about sambhaji maharaj , of course we want complete dedication and respect to the role. It's not some kind of entertainment, the role should be taken seriously. I don't think so Vicky can take it seriously nor bollywood. They should have taken a मराठी actor atleast. IDIOTS!! Expectation are high because even the character is a legend And it's being displayed as some random short-tempered king . No, not acceptable. Not with sambhaji maharaj. They can't ruin this role like prithviraj chauhan. I can't see Vicky kaushal dedication here. .

In my opinion the people are complaining because a popular Marathi TV series based on the same source novel by shivaji sawant had a slightly calm and composed take on sambhaji maharaj's charecter . So here in Maharashtra the people's perspective of sambhaji maharaj is from that charecter played by Amol Kolhe

@@largefan1 ohhh is it then why are we celebrating independence Day on 15th August it's been more than 75 years since we have got an independence! Why do we give historical references every now and then? Why do we even celebrate Gandhi jayanti and all those things they all have died 70 years back then by this logic why are we even reading history for that matter because it has happened very long back isn't it?? What a business logic have you produced over here! If it was so long back then why are writers writing books and creators and filmmakers making films on it 😶

Ok, you forgot another gripe, in trailer the empire of the Chatrapati is called swarajya, but it is called in reality is known as hindavi swarajya, as for the reason of aurangya's oppression was religious not political.

Bhai ek analysis video banane ki request hai. Indian tv industry ne 90s se aaj tak kai supernatural shows banaye hai. Jo early 2000s tak hit bhi huye. Lekin aaj hum tv shows ko hi chance tak nhi dete. Kyu aur kya ye sahi baat hai? Kyuki mene great concept & vision but limited target audience (eg Naagin) ya flop shows bhi dekhe hai....
