The new Chi Lava Flat Iron claims to have ceramic plates infused with real volcanic lava to provide gentle consistent heat during styling. This technology apparently provides smooth and shiny results with lower than normal temperatures. Who calls BULLSHIT? I do!

I loved my chi lava! My pup got to the cord and destroyed it. I have thick coarse curly hair! It was the only straightener that actually works for me! I want another but got the Kristin Ess straightener. It works but not as good as my chi lava

I paid almost $160 for the 1 1/2 inch at Ulta. The plates don’t touch when closed. I see a thin space. Should I keep or return it? I didn’t even use it yet.

It's actually a great iron and I don't think that the plates need to touch for it to be effective. Can you try it out and still return it if you don't like it at Ulta? We don't have Ulta in Canada so I don't know what the return policy is like.

Thee Sarah Wood nope LOL. It’s the exact same as every other flat iron I’ve ever used as a hairstylist in the last 13 years. Hahaha. I mean it’s a GREAT flat iron but it’s by no means revolutionizing.

The reason behind the benefits of lava on the hair reside in crystal therapy. I myself use a pendant made of volcanic lava and it protects me from emf and the microwaves I have around during the day with all the appliances I use, including cellphone and laptop, but there are many more virtues inside volcanic lava. The reason why you asked yourself why the heck lava should be beneficial for the hair is because you know that It has great heat conduction properties but volcanic lava also is rich in minerals which are beneficial for the hair like magnesium, silica etc. So when you glide the flat iron on hair strands, these minerals are released onto the hair and make them stronger. That's why just like tourmaline (another therapeutic crystal) your hair appear lustrous and healthy. Now of course the temperature you choose to style your hair has a basic importance in keeping your hair healthy and I must say, having bought the chi lava 2.0 just recently, I was able to lower the temperature of 10 to 20° Celsius (I'm in Italy). Other than that the reason why I was excited to buy this flat iron is because I've been buying so many of these tools that were made in China, no disrespect for Chinese technology but so many times I dealt with poor quality materials and ended up regretting my purchases. This chi lava 2.0 was made in Germany and I can already tell it's another world in consistency of materials and quality and as I mentioned before, I was able to lower the temperature of styling. I'm thinking of making a video to show my experience. Thank you for your video dear, it was your video that inspired me to look out for a chi lava and ended up discovering that a few months ago, they came up with this new model. How funny I was looking for reviews on the 2.0 as I am debating on which to purchase being that there’s a $50 price difference when I saw your very helpful comment just now! Thank you so much for the info you provided! 💖 If I may ask, how do you like the iron so far and was it worth the investment? I’ve been using ceramic flat iron’s at 450 degrees for the past 20 years and never had an issue until a couple of years ago since my hair has gotten more frail due to health issues. I use to be loyal to FHI but their quality is now garbage. I started using the croc titanium which I LOVE and it’s phenomenal but at 450 degrees I did do some damage to my hair which is why I came on here to see what my options were. I love this video and she did a great review ❤️ I’m actually debating if I should get both the original and the 2.0 now because I’m so torn LOL! 😂

When we speak of flat irons, the materials of the plates have a major role in the choice because we must keep in mind that titanium is a more resistant material but if you have thin hair it damages them a lot quicker than the ceramic. Ceramic may be a less resistant material but it doesn't harm hair as much as titanium, this is why the croc may perform great results at styling but no good on hairs health (as you experienced dear😩). Also, no matter what heat styler I use I first put a thermal protection on my hair, ghd product for this purpose is great but I know there are many out there, lately I discovered Revive thermal protector which has great ingredients for the scalp as well, I'm not sure if you can find it where you are but it's worth looking. About the chi lava 2.0, I think it gives a great performance and I'm very happy about it, I have thin hair but it doesn't dry or harm them, the materials are wonderful and when you hold it in your hands you can verify the great quality, I would buy it all over again (and I'm very picky when it comes to these types of choices 😅). No I like babyliss nano titanium even more. You have to be carful though because that’s one hell of a powerful iron! Lower the heat so you don’t fry your hair.

New to your channel, I was wondering what would be your holy grail hair straightener for super thick medium length wavy hair. I use the Aria Infa red straightener and have had mine for 10 years. I LOOOOVE it for the first 3 years then it starts to fade and not keep my hair straight all day. I am a girl who straightens her hair every other day. Please help!!!

you dont need to do that to keep it straight, go to besuty supplies in black comunity they sale silk cap or and special cap to wrap your hair while sleeping and you can keep your hair straight for many days.
