Which heat setting you using on your flat iron on your fine texture? Because tighter curl pattern and thick they need about 450f if they don’t blowout really well,some maybe 410f. Tight curl pattern usually doesn’t blowout straight really well sometimes,sometimes they leave some texture still need flat ironing.depend how well or bad for blow drying based how much heat you using flat iron.

My hair is wavy and somewhat frizzy. I stopped heat drying and flat ironing and my hair is in the best condition of my life. Heat is hair’s enemy. I don’t know what the obsession with straight hair is about. It’s one type of hair texture. Not the only one. When my hair is natural my husband likes it best. He calls it my “boat hair”. Meaning it has a natural tousled look that he likes. Just find the serums and leave in conditioner that your hair loves.

It really depends on hair texture and needs. My hair is wavy so it’s super frizzy, I have to flat iron my roots or it will look weird. I use heat protection on my roots but very little. If you’re hair is smoother then mine and you’re avoiding it with the iron in order to maintain volume, I would skip the heat protection in that area.

@GlamGirlGabi
@GlamGirlGabi Жыл бұрын
Yes that’s very common!! Heat does turn light hair “muddy”. Almost like a dish water color right? The key for that is purple shampoo or purple conditioner. Better not Younger has a great purple butter mask that is also great for dry hair (and wavy/curly curl patterns tend to be porous in general). Heat protector is also very important. ShineShield will be perfect for you since you have textured hair. If your hair is fine, don’t put too much on the roots. Focus on the mids to ends. It’s a great product and I don’t find that it weighs my hair down at all (and my strands are actually extremely fine).

@SirenaSpades
@SirenaSpades Жыл бұрын
Henna will not cover gray. You need peroxide to lift gray first before coloring. I've used henna since 2015, every 6 weeks. I'm a natural redhead. Redheads go white, not gray. I use a 25% neutral henna/75% regular henna mix, the neutral henna turns the white hair blonde then red. This is how it works. Henna is great for redheads who are going white but maybe not so great for others, often products that say "henna" have other things in them and are not 100% henna............
@SirenaSpades
@SirenaSpades Жыл бұрын
One more thing. If you use henna, you will not be able to use color or bleach (peroxide) ever again. I have tested this on a bundle of my hair (from the tub). The color from the henna will not lift. I then just left it on there (for hours). My red color just stayed. Henna coats the hair shaft.

Don’t blow dry your hair. That’s more damage. Air dry your air or dry it gently with cool air. Trust me on this. My hair is super curly and frizzes like crazy if left on its own. I don’t put anything on my hair, wet or dry, because it never feels clean with product on it. I flat iron it in very small-one inch sections. It’s worth the time and effort. Then use a light hold, flexible hair spray to keep the humidity away. It works. I live in the Deep South near New Orleans. We are talking serious humidity. My hair stays smooth until the next wash or I get caught in the rain.
@GlamGirlGabi
@GlamGirlGabi Жыл бұрын
I disagree with air drying. If you air dry, you need a lot more heat on your iron (which leads to more damage) then if you gently blowdry the cuticle smooth. Hair is easily manipulated when wet but more resistant when dry. When you flat iron dry hair, it wants to go back to the position that it dried in. Because my hair is curly, it would never look smooth and shiny like it does without the blowdrying step. I would say it’s even more important than flat ironing. Although, I respect your opinion and you should continue to do whatever works best for you!
@SweetStuffOnMonarchLane
@SweetStuffOnMonarchLane Жыл бұрын
I agree with you Gabi, how my hair dries is how it wants to stay (which would be frizzy in the case of air drying!) so I would need MORE damaging heat to get it where I would need it to be... but to each her own. There is actually a research study proving that drying hair with a hairblower using continuous motion at 15cm (or about 6 inches) is LESS damaging than air drying your hair! To give credit, I first heard about this on Justin Hickox's KZbin channel. If my link to the research study doesn't work, it can be found at NIH National Library of Medicine, Annals of Dermatology, and the study is titled, "Hair Shaft Damage from Heat and Drying Time of Hair Dryer." Basically what it's saying is that the longer your hair is wet, the more it swells, causing damage to the CMC layer of your hair (which I believe is the second deeper layer after the outer, cuticle layer, and the one before you get to the cortex, or most inner layer) and while blowdrying with heat does damage the outer cuticle of hair more than air drying, doing so at a distance of 6 inches with continuous motion causes LESS damage than air drying. They even suggested that having wet hair for long periods such as with air drying is probably as damaging or possibly more damaging to the CMC layer of hair than HIGH HEAT blowdrying. To summerize, doing things like washing your hair too often (more time with wet hair), going to bed with wet hair (leaving hair wet for an even longer time than regular air drying, which the study proved in itself is damaging), or using super high heat and a super short distance between your hair and your blowdryer are all the most damaging, so try to do these things as little as possible. I'm actually going to try to put the link in a separate comment in case this one gets wiped out... I don't want to have to retype all of that, and I'm not great with links, and copying and pasting, etc.! (Edited for spelling error)
