Many city and county employees worry about their jobs if Republicans are elected. That's beginning to change as residents find out illegal immigrants receive better benefits than long time citizens. Chicago residents never got a chance to vote for our 'sanctuary' status. That was done by mayor Harold Washington. In 1985, while in his 3rd year, he handed down an executive order that made it so. We have not had a chance to vote on it since then.

Anthony is one of the more reasonable representatives on the city council. He is a realist and understands the complexities of government finances. I know he prefers to keep representing his ward but the city really could use his leadership right about now. He could even someday be a state representative for IL in congress. He doesn’t follow the establishment. Although some might argue he’s not liberal enough. I had to leave Chicago under the Emanuel administration for better pay and cost of living. Also better quality of life. I still have family and friends in Chicago. Good luck Chicago. You have some tough times ahead.
