I have been watching football my entire life (50 years). Some of the coaching that has occurred this year has been nothing sort of amateurish. Eberflus yesterday took the cake. Your team had the Lions reeling. The game was in the balance. You have one timeout remaining. This is professional football. Your team should be prepared for situations like this.

Eberflus made the right decision to hold the timeout. What you call that timeout with 32 seconds left and then have a play and try to get your offense off the field, and field goal unit on the field. You get everyone back to the line and snap with 10-15 seconds left they just took 9 seconds too long.

The way they handled the Eberflus firing was not even the worst hiring/firing debacle they had. In 1999 they released a press statement saying they hired Dave McGinnis has HC before actually making him an offer, he backed out after it got out. It was a huge debacle.

There's been a lot of points left on the field that kickers could have gotten. I feel better for Bears fans today. He checked out of the play because he realized there wasn't enough time to run the original play, that at that point, he needed to go for the end zone. HC should have either called a TO after the sack or at min, called it at 20 seconds when there was confusion

He said the play before the Hail Mary in Washington had nothing to do with that loss, when it was exactly that play that made the Hail Mary possible (notwithstanding the defensive player messing around while the play was going on). And today, once again, he took no personal responsibility or blame and shaded his comments to point blame at his players. Maybe if he'd said, "Hey, that was my fault. I screwed up.", he would still have his job.

They then may have given him alternatives to change his coaching style - excuses, denials of accountability or even only allowing OC to make offensive decisions yet he may have refused, then they fired him. To be fair that ending is 100% on Caleb choking. Under no circumstances would Chicago gain 10 yards and the lions let the player get out of bounds. They needed to go for that short yard gain play ASAP then call the timeout to get the kicking team on the field.

I watched in shock as the Bears just let the clock run out when they had a timeout and in makable field goal range, to tie up the game and go to overtime, with 21 seconds to go. I was like 'that's a Homer Simpson'. Chicago definitely should have fired their coach. The problem is this coach now has probably marred William's career. Imagine being a rookie and you lose your head coach after 12 weeks. Unfortunately, Chicago is dysfunctional. Gotta feel bad for their fans.

2 things are true about that game. first, it is the bears organization that is at fault, because eberflus should have never been the coach this year. i'm not blaming eberflus for being a bad coach now, when he was a bad coach the entire time he was with the bears. Funny thing is if the refs had not called the phantom interference he would have been praised for how the Bears fought back and almost won instead he screwed it up and got fired.
