Williams is learning and already showing potential. I hope he protects his body better as he grows. The O line didnt do terrible as they had the typical ups n downs. The defense did outstanding. They were walked on for the first half drives, made second half adjustments and held a tough offense to under 20 points. A great amount of positives for the Bears in week 2. I think the factor is CW hyping himself up as a rookie coming into the league. NFL defenses are much faster than the college game and maybe teams game plan for CW more because of how he performed at the college level to try and negate him. The same could be said by Andrew Luck when he played because his O-Line was terrible but he still won games and brought that team to the playoffs just had an early career from all the hits he took. I would say if we give CW a 2-4 year window and in this window if his team isn't consistently making the playoffs then I would say it's a disappointment.

@marsrwby7477Ай бұрын
Y’know I noticed three things watching these highlights 1. The Bears O-Line is very bad, a lot of Caleb Williams throws and plays shown are under extreme pressure, how is he going to shine if he can’t even have a clean pocket for 3-5 seconds before feeling the need to escape? 2. The Bears scheme, at least some of those play designs, might be very basic. That or they cannot get the guys they want open, leaving Williams to force bad balls into tight spaces, or make a play on his own. (End of the day those picks were his choice, and I like the confidence, that last one could have been saved if he didn’t underthrow it.) 3. He was getting harassed all game. From what I know about Pass-pro, you usually want guys to take the longest path to the QB, that being the edge. He had guys coming at him from the edge, from the middle, anywhere. And the Texans were sending 5 or 6 guys, that’s going to cause some problems. If you can’t protect your quarterback, he’s going to get hurt, and this may be a ruined prospect. Shame honestly.

I think this is a great assessment. Caleb just doesn't have time for advance plays. He did good to get the ball out 2.5 seconds when he has it. But man, the Texans blitz their mind out, and it worked.

This is why you have to protect your young QB. Stroud came into a unit that had a top 15 LT and they made sure to draft O-linemen the last 3 years in the 1st and 3rd rounds Stroud still got sacked a ton last year, but not so much that it ruined him. Chicago is straight up ruining their young QBs but not protecting them.
