I was stuck at home for 3 days from that storm. About a week later I was fired from my job. Best thing that ever happened to me.

I've had jobs like that I scratch my cornea from the ice crystals shooting this. Just had cataract surgery and the doc says it may have contributed

I was living in Michigan and got written up at work for literally not being able to come in to work 30 minutes away. Feb 1 was my 21 birthday. Go me 🙄. As 2020 has been so crazy I am just preparing for the worst like this.

If this is zero visibility, why can we see the cars, the busses, the bridge, the buildings across the bridge…this WAS an impressive storm, but "zero visibility"? I think not. 1/4 mile…maybe

Because cameras have automatic sensors that filter out the snow (noise) from the picture better than our eyes. If you make a photo on your phone during a Blizzard, you will not capture most of the snow

If you’ve ever been in downtown Chicago you’d know there are lot of buildings here that you can’t see with these conditions. I remember this blizzard very well and I literally could see nothing out my window

We need this now!

I had only experienced one storm of comparable severity in Chicago and that was in 1999. These things are extremely rare. They happen once every 10 to 20 years. Normal Chicago winters aren't so bad. Here a snowfall of 3 inches in usually considered pretty bad, which is part of the reason why this particular storm was such a disaster for so many commuters, people in Chicago are just not used to snow this severe.

Hey was that the "Jeffery Express?" I would have gotten on that bus even if it wasn't just to get out the snow and wind.

heh, this past winter we got almost no snowfall... almost nothing at all. It varies here in Chicago but it's mostly unimpressive. What happened in 2011 was very unusual, very rare. The winters really aren't that bad compared to other cities.

@MrCRACKACOLA Yeah, I lasted about 10 minutes, and then I felt so cold I thought my face would fall off so I went inside and then I thought my face would melt.

Now THIS was a blizzard. This winter (2011-2012) has been pathetic! Only two moderate snows and constant 50 degree temps. I am not pleased :(.

Still waiting for the 'whiteout conditions". This was nothing more than a moderate snowstorm.
@dogstar76 жыл бұрын
60 knot winds over that bridge, and that's ice, not snow. Wound up with a scratched cornea out of that one. But I caught an air flash of snow lightening a little later

It's an interesting video and I'm sure the weather was very unpleasant but there was no whiteout. I've been in enough whiteouts to satisfy me for a long time. None the less it is a good video and I applaud you for going out to video the storm so that we can pick on you over a choice of words. I'm too old for that kind of fun anymore. ;-) Thanks,
