I love Ron Harper. He’s my idol. I look up to him. I also have a speech impairment and by watching this video motivates me more to be out there and not care about what people think. Breathing exercises really helps before I speak. No rush. I feel better now. I need to let my insecurities go. I know I can get a girlfriend again..

One of the most underrated wing defenders of all time. Probably because he played with maybe the 2 best. This dude was tall, rangey, athletic, physical, and had really quick hands (23'rd all time in steals). A walking mismatch. Offensively in the triangle he was pretty much the guard out there to stretch the floor on the weak side. If you let him open he could knock down a 3. But utilized most of his energy on the defensive end. He could be a great 3 & D type player in this era... with more emphasis and practice of the shot.

Legend. If it wasn`t for his bad knees, he would have been much more known for his offense. So he became one of the best defenders of the 90s. With him joining the Bulls, the team become deadly on defense. MJ, Pip, Dennis and Ron could take down teams only by defending them for 3 Quarters, then MJ&Pip often didn`t play in the 4th quarter at all. To me, the 96 Bulls are the best team of all time because of their D..
@lainiwakura46784 жыл бұрын
@@scottipippen6554 I put the 86 Celtics, 87 Lakers, 83 Sixers, and 72 Lakers in the class as well. They'd even make runs on teams with Jordan on the bench. Jud Buechler and Randy Brown would come in somewhere in the 3'rd quarter and press like hell for 94 feet. Put everything into a 3-4 minute stretch. Teams would have trouble getting the ball past half court. A close game would turn into a double digit lead, then Jordan would come back in with a second wind, and they'd coast from there. Or if the other team got back in it MJ would take over the last 2-3 minutes. That was the cycle of life for those Bulls teams. The defensive pressure that 91 team brought, once they got rolling, was relentless. That group had more youth and everything had just come together. The level they were playing at come playoff time... would give the 96 team everything they could handle.

@@lainiwakura4678 Agree..pretty much with everything. Horace Grant was a beast aswell, still remember his last block on Jevon Johnson in 93`. Paxson hits the 3, Horace seals the deal with his block. The 86 Celtics were a great collection of talent, and the Lakers aswell. Unfortuneteley i never saw them play live, bc there was no NBA on German television in the 80s. I was 8 when MJ joined the league, the first NBA games were shown in 88`after the Olympics. I still remember MJ playing in 84`Olympics though. I became a fan in 89`, was playing mayself then, and the 89`playoffs were the first i ever saw. And i became a Bulls and Pippen fan right away. Great times:)..

@@scottipippen6554 Was born in 79. The earliest I remember the league was around the time the Bad Boy Pistons took over in 89. At least the earliest I was really aware of what was going on. I have fuzzy recollections of some of those Celtics and Lakers teams. Fun fact... I played AAAA PIAA basketball with Kobe Bryant. Not on the same team, as opponents. Even matched up with him once. I'd gone up against kids going to major D1A programs before. I'm talking places like UNC. Your teammates will talk smack all week about how you're gonna get lit up. But in the end they're just a man and you can at least somewhat hold your own. Especially at 6'4" 220. But that Kobe was a whole nother type of dude. I was completely overmatched. His team (Lower Merion) went on to win the state AAAA title with Kobe and basically 4 teammates that looked like Jonah Hill... that's how dominant he was. And that's coming out of the D1 (Philly) big school bracket. Where there are routinely nationally ranked teams.

@@lainiwakura4678 Great story:)! The young Kobe must have been really something else.. I had the priviliege to once play against Dirk in a school tournament in Bamberg. I am not remembering much, but our big man was 6,3"..and i can`t recall him getting even one rebound that game, lol:). Dirk was 15 at the time, still very raw. But he already dominated the game at will. There is even footage of this game in his documentary..

I love seeing Ron putting himself out there and not letting it limit him in any way. I remember when he started getting coverage in college but wasn't ready to deal with all the interviews. He didn't stop trying and never backed down from the challenge. He has continually worked hard to improve himself both on and off the court. Add to that, he seems to be a genuinely nice guy. He deserves a lot more credit for his NBA career ... if not for the knee injury he'd be remembered as one of the best from the era but probably wouldn't have played with Kobe or Jordan.

@Someone once again, Harper said Jordan is the GOAT because he has 6. You added your personal opinion (which is fine) about the best the NBA ever seen. There is no proof of that. No matter what stat you say, someone has done that too. As for the records Jordan holds, let's not go there. Wilt and LeBron rewrote the record books. Its all opinion and not fact. Why cant we just enjoy the greatness off ALL great players
