Skip and Stephen A both have pushed this narrative that they were good/great players to somehow to boost their credentials. Stephen A claims his knee prevented him from taking his game further. I totally agree with the fact their ability to play the game shouldn't have anything to with their knowledge and opinion. In all sports most of the great coaches never played to an elite level. But when you belittle and make derogatory comments about anyone, which both Stephen A and Skip do, it's not acceptable. To deliberately miss pronounce anyones given name or give them derogatory monikers you are being highly insulting. The media and journalists want to hold people to fear and ransom especially in the NBA. An example is when such awards like the Season MVP is awarded by journalists voting and there is no yard stick for the award and, in my opinion, makes the award defunct and obsolete. The media when discussing such things as the GOAT will always bring this up as an imperative criteria thus this journalistic award becomes important for legacy, popularity, contacts and endorsements. Players are forced to suck up and pander to people that have jobs just because of their thoughts and opinions. The media have far too much unregulated control where they all tend to push the same narrative on select liked players and adversely to the disliked players. When a player pushes back on reports the journalist becomes a snowflake and whines. Double standards exist which they know is there and is why such spineless people, who wouldn't dare talk smack off camera to their faces, are filled with ostentatious hubris and say such unpleasant things.

Even myself had be cut from all of my teams from middle and high school and at least my church basketball coach kept me because he felt bad to even cut me. Some of the best players are the worst coaches and ad or worst talent scouts. Some of the worst players went onward to learn the game they're compassionate with and became the best coaches ad's and talent scouts even in the professional leagues! But as to Kwame Brown, while I am only envious of the opportunity to play professional league basketball and now 13 years played and retired, I now pity him using social media to cry out in response to years of criticism! I’m glad Jalen did this, this will forever be a golden moment. Stephen A of course was added to this segment to cause a distraction and say a bunch of nothing that had nothing to do with what the were talking about. Receiving information from players to use in your reporting has nothing to do with the way you make it personal when reporting about sports.
@VitaminJay Жыл бұрын
@Regis Johnson because the way he speaks about athletes while critiquing their games is very unprofessional at times and demoralizing. He tries to humiliate people he dislikes instead of speaking about their games from a statistical standpoint, so Jalen actually doing it him showed how fragile he was when faced with the same type of criticism
@VitaminJay Жыл бұрын
@Regis Johnson there’s no way to make a comparison and trash his analysis when he literally only has to read a sheet of paper with statistics and give his opinion them. So to make a good comparison you instead critique the way he played the sport and name call him the same way he does other players. Calling someone out of their name and disrespecting them isn’t journalism, that’s clownery
@VitaminJay Жыл бұрын
@Regis Johnson calling someone Westbrick or Lebrick isn’t criticizing their game, that’s disrespecting them by calling them out of their name especially if they’ve voiced their opinion on the matter and made it known that they find it disrespectful. Again that isn’t analysis nor is it journalism because a large handful of his colleagues don’t take that route and they report on and critique the athletes games just fine.
@VitaminJay Жыл бұрын
@Regis Johnson Kobe has the most misses in NBA history, what’s his nickname for bricking shots?…I’ll wait
@VitaminJay Жыл бұрын
@Regis Johnson it’s disrespectful no matter how you slice it. If he simply sticks to the script and says “player a needs to shoot better” that’s fine and professional, giving someone a nickname they do not approve of and deem disrespectful along with their wife who have publicly spoken out about it is wrong. It shouldn’t happen because that’s a personal decision to do so therefor it becomes a personal matter no matter the reasoning it’s attached to.

But Jalen Rose kept his calm demeanor while articulating without unnecessary emotion and insults. I used to like Stephen A. Smith but as he’s shown his true colors it’s given me a sour taste in my mouth towards him. He thinks he can bully, insult and demean anyone he wants, when did that become OK. No. What derailed Kwame's career is being drafted as a center at the age of 17 and never learning the biggest things that a center needs in the NBA. Footwork and being able to use their bodies to create space. Center is the hardest position if a big man hasn't learned those small parts of the game. You can draft scoring positions and forwards where there's space to move on the floor and where great dribbling, passing and most importantly scoring is all created. But center takes man strength and physicality and I can't forget knowing your body, having the ability to move your feet and weight as a reflex. Without thinking about it. But Kwame most likely wouldn't have made the money he made or been a lottery pick had he went to college. This was a time where HS draft picks had gotten a lot more popular. McGrady, KG, Kobe, etc had paved a path. But people also forget that other high school players went in the same draft as Kwame. He just got all the attention because, not only did he go 1st overall, but he was drafted by Jordan and people remember the images of Jordan yelling at an 18-19 y/o Kwame. Plus, those other HS picks all flopped. They were TRULY busts, because Kwame actually had a career that lasted for a decade. He went from one big media attention spot playing with MJ in Washington to an even bigger media spot with the Lakers. For those reasons his name became synonymous with the word bust in the media. He made more money than he probably would have, got talked about more than he ever would have and all of that was due to what a lot of people view as negativity..but honestly it's what you make of it. Seeing Kwame now, he can seem a bit sensitive to all of it, but I feel like he's playing it up and using the attention to propel his online fame. And he's a damn genius for how he's doing it. I might be wrong, but when have we ever seen him talk this way. I'm not saying he's not being real. I'm saying he's taken a part of his personality and turned the volume way up and it's so entertaining!

@@NateDawg920 Anthony Davis was really pissing me off game 1 but I remembered he’s not a natural center. He started off playing point guard so he tends to think he’s Kevin Durant lol

To my last comment, I am a 68 yr old lady who is a die hard basketball fan! Thanks Steven for finally getting the message. Let's not say what you want to say whether you get into your personal feelings from your past or be insensitive or disrespectful to professional. Please don't do that because you think you have some leaked information, that may not even be true. Be professional analyst and whatever buy do it with class and a conscious as well!!!

Jalen made a fool of himself. Getting personal in a debate is a sign of immaturity and losing.

@@zymosan123 Jaylen definitely showed weakness. The people saying that he roasted Skip are likely weak also and didn’t catch it.
