I think the Cubs (and way too many fans) are absolutely anointing Porter Hodge as the 2025 closer, full stop. Feels similar to Brandon Hughes going into 2023 and Adbert Alzolay going into 2024.

When the Cubs don’t sign another superstar, I want Luke to read the cold open with his back to the camera

Im going to jinx this... There is Zero, Zip, Nada of a chance of this happening. Jed doesnt have the cojones to give him the years nor the money. JED is going to offer 2 years and 50 millions take or leave😂

I'm OK with the 2 yrs/$50M, IF, IF they are convinced Bregman's bat translates to Wrigley away from the Crawford boxes in Houston...AND, they are trading Hoerner, for hopefully an good reliever or another SP.
@franciscosantiago903210 күн бұрын
@TheLearningCatalystCoach it wont.. Bregman lived for the Crawfors Boxes.. just like Paredes will thrive there.. Wrigleys corner walls plus wind blowing in won't be a good friend to Bregman.

@@franciscosantiago9032 agree...that's my concern, unless they have data that suggests otherwise(his spray charts make it a risk for sure)

@TheLearningCatalystCoach according to baseball savant page he would hit 6-7 less HR in Wrigley.. so about 19-20 hr if it was last year.

Jed change his approach? LOL...never, it's just his personality. Cannot wait till he is gone, please....however, given what we know about the private equity and business side, even Jed's replacement will be more of the same

If they didn't get rid of Cody I would say they're fine but they really need to go get bregman now And also a couple of good arms They would have just saved half those games last year they'd be in the playoffs

Why would you waste your money on Bregman? The Cubs just got rid of a Boras client in Bellinger

We need a 3rd basemen

@ Not an overrated Boras 3rd baseman. I’d rather pay to keep Tucker long term than give 6 yrs to Bregman.

His market has come wayyyy down. 3yr 75mil pry gets it done. 25mil per. So yeah Cubs should be all over this if he projects to have good years at Wrigley. Ask Tucker is this your guy? Best friend and you'll resign? Oh ok yeah sign this guy!!! 😂 Also tho, the Bellinger deal might work here, idk if we should do it 😅 but it might work again

Not a chance that's happening he's going to get 125 to 150 over 5 to 6 year range.
@knowledgeuntamed917710 күн бұрын
@billkelly7973 That is what Boras expected yes but when nobody offers you that then like with Bellinger last year you have to find the best option. Jed has 45mil before he hits the 1st Threshold this year (Poor teams Cap). If you're signing Bregman and then trading Nico, you can take 10mil off the Bregman deal 🤝 against that 45mil per we have left. Let's say it's 30per even, Trading Nico after means you're adding some top talent in return for him, and Bregman would be getting 30mil of the now 55mil leaving 25mil still to go work on this team. I don't think people get how much ownership spent on elections. Almost a Billion $!!!! 😅💯 Bregman leaves you 25mil under the 1st threshold at most....how fucking poor is the team with the 3rd highest income?!?!?
