No to Bregman. I’d rather sign an extension with Tucker. I think the only way the Cubs get Bregman would be a major deal with Seattle to get Luis Castillo, sending Hoerner with prospects. I don’t really like that deal, but, it’s the only way I can see Bregman coming to the Cubs. I like Hoerner a lot.

Great way to summarize it just taking it day by day at this point but Jed has got to know he has to win starting in March the schedule isn't our friend to start the year if they start like 5-15 or something unacceptable like that I'd fire him without hesitation that's just me

@@joecasey1329 If Matt Shaw was a guaranteed perfect fit for 3rd base I don’t think they would’ve added the Rule 5 draft 3rd basemen, trade for a utility guy who could play 3rd, and be linked to free agent 3rd basemen. I have a feeling they’re concerned he might be fine but not be a good fit at 3rd.

I think they're thinking that if Bregman took a deal similar to Bellinger, it'd be like the Cubs swapped Belli for Breggy, straight up. This allows them to move Hoerner & prospects in a pitching package potentially in order to open up a spot for Shaw to be the starting 2B by midseason.

You can’t build a team around someone who isn’t on it. It was the same thing with Mervis. He was tearing it up in the minors and people just expected him to be the opening day starter, but they ended up signing a couple of over the hill guys instead. I expect a similar scenario playing out this time. An over-the-hill guy, then platoon guy to throw in there once or twice a week

Im a 100% sure matt shaw will be an above average 3rd baseman his high leg kick when he hits is my only concern with shaw just my opinion but i think hes the #1 prospect for a reason he will figure it out fast

I like the Bregman move, but only if he took a short-term deal similar to Bellinger's. Anything longer than that would be death. Bregman's bat was sweetened by the Crawford boxes his entire career, no different than the Correa offering a few seasons ago.

No, dont sign Bergman, unless it's a one year deal which would never happen. If Shaw isn't the answer at 3b, we have other prospects that can play 3rd in the future. I'd try to acquire Justin Turner to help out Shaw, this year.
