The point is he had a mental illness. He was using her "sickness" as a mask for his own grief
@Sasuga_Skky6 жыл бұрын
MsJubjubbird I took it quite differently. I saw it as her not wanting to see him down and depressed all the time, and she noticed that when he was busy looking after her he seemed happier, so she kept up the act.
@MsJubjubbird6 жыл бұрын
She kept up the act because it got her attention. Before she did that her did was not paying enough attention to her as he was caught up in his grief (eg he failed to take her to a play) and the only way she could get his attention without feeling guilty about disrupting his grief was to be sick- and worked a charm every time. He wants her to be sick because it takes his mind off his wife and she wants to be sick because it gets her attention- hence why they separate them because keeping them together is just going to continue that negative cycle.
@MsJubjubbird6 жыл бұрын
That was why he let her be sick. But she acted sick to get his attention- yes he did take his mind off his wife and looked after her but that wasn't her motive. From the discussion she worked out from the first instance that her being sick gets attention and she only realised her dad felt better when Dr Charles brought it up

Ray Ari I haven’t watched the episode but from this I reckon after the first time she got sick and her dad rushed her to the hospital she thought that if she kept doing that then it would distract him from the grief of losing his wife/the girls mother and it would make him be how he was before that but eventually this would have spiralled out of her control and it would have become compulsion/she wouldn’t be able to distinguish between something actually being wrong with her and something psychological making her believe she is sick to get her dad to take her to the hospital again... like I said I haven’t watched the show but I reckon this is what happened

they need to "explain why this has happened" so they claim he's abusing his child? The hospital has no right to keep someones kid from them. That is legal nonsense
@TimberlakeTigerGirl2 жыл бұрын
That's not what's happening. He was trying to explain why the daughter was faking illnesses and how he unintentionally caused it. And the father was not listening and, technically speaking, assaulted the doctor by pushing him out of the way. His inability to hear them out, and his aggressive behavior, is what allowed the hospital to call child services. Hospitals have the right to step in if they feel like the child is being subjected to any kind of abuse. They were worried the girl was going to be subjected to harm by her father.
