It doesn’t matter if the odds are against them or if the board recommends that idea. If there is another option that does have the possibility of working what so ever they have the legal right to be aware of ALL options. And the mother clearly stated “NO, there must be another way”

This choice is incredibly difficult for doctors, having to choose to have a high change at saving one and killing another or maybe saving both. I don't agree with the fact that they didn't inform the parents with both options but I can understand why they didn't. The fact is they had to save one of those children and if it was possible both could die in the operation even from the get-go, they would still put as much effort into whichever child had the highest probability of survival. not to say the other would receive support if possible but still. agree or disagree with this but I think they made the best choice, legally speaking maybe not so much ethically.

thing is if you give the parents a choice like that at such an emotional time they may fail to understand that the odds of the saving both option succeeding are almost zero and may choose it out of desperation rather than considering the fact that one baby has a good chance of surviving

I really wish this show stopped portraying doctors who follow the most logical outcome as the bad guys. It just makes it seem like taking a huge risk is the right thing to do when in a lot of cases it simply isn’t.

well, doctors are legally obligated to provide patients or caretakers with all options. what the other doctors were doing could get them in trouble with the ethics board

This is sad for me because I'm a twin and my sister had to have surgery on her neck because she had a type of scoliosis, so her neck was slanted but they did the surgery and shaved a bit of the bone around her neck so it would be straight now she is healthy and happy xx
