@@xstreamoneya have you ever seen a little kid at church? He is not paying attention at the function, but he is fiscally there. You can be in a place and not partecipate in the activity, church is not a place, is a mix of community, beliefs and gestures. I think that respecting her sister believes she seated/standed there respectfully minding her own buisnes. When the other sister went meditating at Buddhist temple the catholic one would respect the place and community and don't interfere either.

I'm a twin (not conjoined) and the lack of individuality is exhausting. Everyone treats you like you're one person, not two completely separate minds with separate interests and desires. I can't imagine what it must be like for people who are conjoined.

I'd like to RESPECTFULLY ask: How difficult is it for back-to-back conjoined twins to walk around and go on errands like grocery shopping? I imagine it would be difficult, but I think it could look more natural because they took their first steps with each other? Genuine curiosity, no jokes.

Another question should be is how do they SIT down while in a vehicle or something else that requires them to be sitting down with their backs against the seat. Does it also hurt the longer they sit depending on how they have to position their bodies just to sit down as properly as they can possibly can?

I'm a twin, we aren't conjoined but we have similar minds. When our first set of brainwaves were taken, they were overlapped by the doctor to show they were 100% identical. And we can feel each other's pain despite our separate bodies. Once when we were younger he began throwing up and i got intense chest pains as a result of his muscles contracting. And i had my appendix removed he has sever abdominal pain as well a day after my surgery, but he was just constipated. Having a twin is like being a half of something, you are your own person, but you can be the most authentic version of yourself when your with your other half, your shadow, whatever you like to call them

That was so selfish of the twin resisting the separation while the other twin who has cancer wants the separation to live longer I know I will never understand what conjoined twins feel to never be apart from each other but I do know when I see selfishness and someone's life is one step away from death. If she truly loved her sister all her heart she would not have hesitated of saying yes but she basically said no and her saying no means the twin with cancer will die a slow and painful death at a young age and she would be the one witnessing her sister's death and by the time she realized she made a wrong decision it will be too late to save her sister's life. I'm happy the doctor's character managed to change the stubborn twin's mind
@ovinedreamer1451
@ovinedreamer1451 2 жыл бұрын
You got that the wrong way around. Stubborn twin was the one that was going to die. Stubborn twin wanted them to treat her sister's cancer, which would cause stubborn twin's heart to fail. Cancer twin agreed to the separation not because she wanted to live longer, but because she wanted to save her sister.
@undermoonlight4849
@undermoonlight4849 2 жыл бұрын
You've misunderstood. The one with cancer wouldn't die from cancer treatment, the healthy one would. The sister agreed to separation to prevent the cancer from spreading to her sister, not because she wanted to live. The doctor only convinced the first twin because she knew she wouldn't want to be the reason her twin would die. The other twin was ready and willing to die with her.

My question was whether this was even realistic. Would conjoined twins really be this resistant if separation was the safest option? Also, having them be complete opposites seems kind of forced. Most conjoined twins I've seen have their differences, but it seems one is a bit more this or a bit less that. Not polar opposites!

@@stadot1427 Going to preface with the very important "not a doctor" disclaimer. The resistance seems highly plausible if you just think of general anxieties and traumas associated with parting of non-conjoined individuals. Think separation anxiety in children, or even rare adults that basically never do anything without their parents. Then magnify that a hundred fold for the even greater share of memories/experiences. Adding this to physical proximity effects (chemically we react to physical touch), this could do them significant psychological damage and possibly neurochemical(?).

Yeah, but that easier said than done, there are some twins, conjoined and not conjoined who can function without their other, and there are ones who literally feel like they'll die without the other. There was this episode of Black-ish, in its final season, where Bow was convincing her son Jack, to check out a different college, and Diane, Jack's twin sister felt some type of way about. The thought of going to a college without her twin brother wasn't something she thought about.

Nominal reason was that they didn't want to ruin their "special bond" (basically the show romantitcizing codependency). Real reason was artificial drama for the sake of the plot.
