Chicago Police shut down Backstreet Boys concert

Apparently it was past curfew despite not being in a residential area and despite the fact that Lolla was allegedly still going on across the lake (lots of conflicting reports as to when the NIN set actually ended so it might have actually been over). They wouldn't even let them do one song to send everyone off.
Fuck. That.
Apparently CPD claims they weren't involved and the Park District shut down the show. The Park District claims they were shut down by Live Nation. Live Nation claims it was a decision by the Pavilion. The Pavilion claims it was CPD. :-X

We were there too! Luckily enough we already had tickets for the STL show the following night & thanks to the BSB we got hooked up with VIP Fan Pit tickets instead!! They are truly amazing and so faithful to their fans!

Omg! The boys were threatened to be cuffed and made to get off the stage if they didn't go on their own if they sang one more song! Howie said "Is there any bailbonds around here!? " willing to go to jail for singing one more song! then AJ going "hell no we won't go!" and getting the fans chanting that!

They did their best trying to stop the cops and smart move they decide to do a make up show with the missing songs. They only had 4 songs left.... IN A WORLD LIKE THIS and I WANT IT THAT WAY in the main setlist with EVEREYBODY and LARGER THAN LIFE as the encores.

Thank you for posting this. This is the best video of the incident. I was also there, in the best seats I've EVER had for one of their concerts(this was my 7th of theirs) and I'm still shocked and upset about it. I know they will do what they can to make it right but hopefully they will never do another show at that venue again.

My husband surprised me with a BSB concert ticket. He almost sent me to Chicago (from Iowa) but the only tickets left were to expensive so I went to Saint Louis. So glad I didn't go to Chicago after hearing about this. So sorry for all the fans that were at this concert!

it's obvious that they didn't want to leave, they wanted to finish the concert, i don't think it's they're fault, i do think thou, that they need to check Pauly D's and Jesse McCarthey's time on stage because, no disrepect but ppl went to see the BSB, they felt so bad they posted an apology video on fb and said they would make it right, which i know they will, this had never happened to them before, KTBSPA PEOPLE!

If anything, I'd blame the venue. If they knew there was a noise ordinance, they should've passed that nugget of info along to the tour manager. I don't know how booking venues work...but if that seemed like a possible issue, it should've been mentioned ahead of time. --- Apart from that, I'm extremely proud of our boys. They tried desperately to give the fans SOMETHING more. Even to sing acapella. And I'm proud of the BSB fans for keeping the pride going.

It was both the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times who reported that the last show at Lolla ended at 10:00PM, which was on time and one hour before curfew. As far as conflicting statements from those who claim otherwise, I would go with the news agencies. The police issued a statement saying that there was no documented police activity at all regarding the concert. The really quiet people here are the employees of the Chicago Park District.

Here is the official statement from the venue: "There were erroneous reports of the Chicago Police shutting the show down. The venue on Northerly Island is bound to an ordinance that requires all performances to conclude prior to 11:00 pm. Venue management worked with the artist to complete their show within the allotted time and, when the show exceeded the curfew, the artist was asked to conclude the show."

A.) The Chicago Police had nothing to do with the shutdown. It was a park district employee at Northerly Island. B.) Lollapalooza was not allowed to run late to 11:45PM as some have falsely claimed. In fact, it finished on time at 10:00 PM. C.) Had the tour manager contacted the police in advance to request a curfew extension, they probably would have gotten one. D.) Had the BSB not allowed their open acts to push their show to a late start time, they could have played a full show.

The whole thing was ridiculous. As soon as they realized the concert was going to start late someone should have made the decision to shorten some things to move it along so we could get the full concert we paid for & they planned for. The boys were as bummed us. They tried so hard to get us one more song. Brian & Kevin both went off stage to speak with someone, but they wouldn't let it happen. Park people were even rushing us out of the bathroom after the concert telling us we had to leave.

I was there in the front and I paid a lot for my tickets and lost out on a quarter of the show. First time ever getting to see the boys and I drove 3 hours to get there. This was crappy. As soon as the crowd around us realized it was over no matter what they started pushing forward to the guys and the security kept yelling back the fuck off. I got to touch nick and kevins hands ;) before I got outta of the way though.

In their defense, it isn't that uncommon for bands to play past curfew, and when they do, they end up just paying the fine for violating the ordinance. I'm guessing the managers assumed it would be no different for them.

First of all,,,,The BSB do not need an opening act. They could sing for hours and never run out of songs. I don't get the curfew thing cause I've been to a few venues that have curfews and it sucks for the people who payed good money to see a show
